Conbusac Convention held recently in Seattle, WA, U.S.A re-elected Carlos Cagaan as President of Conbusac for another term. Through a letter sent by the President organizing TBTK, Betty Veloso Garcia, it stated that during the convention, wherein, the governor of the province was the special guest of honor, TBTK was declared to be now an independent entity from Conbusac, and that participation in every TBTK will be invitational for other participating countries to be involved. It was known in the meeting that most of the past CONBUSAC leaders will be home for TBTK. Garcia said she will be arriving from the U.S in Manila in time for the awaited Malacanang Palace visit of the participating Boholanos from different countries to TBTK on the 14th of July 2009.
Regarding the Bohol Day Celebration, participating groups are given special seats to join the program with Pres. Gloria M. Arroyo as guest of Honor. TBTK Communication Center starting July 15th will be at the Metro Center Hotel along CPG Avenue in Tagbilaran City, for the updates. However , Carlita ‘Liklik’ Gallares Schroeder the Over-all Coordinator reiterated that those who did not pre-register will have to pay the additional event registration fees.

PGMA declares July 27 a special working holiday

JULY 27 becomes a special national working holiday by virTue of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo‘s signing Republic Act 9645 declaring the say as Iglesia ni Cristo Day.

The day is also the founding anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in the Philippines, since 95 years ago,

Republic Act 9645 was signed into law June 12 this year.

The law also institutes the annual celebration of the INC Day every July 27.

In declaring the observance of the day, Arroyo likewise expressed her thanks to the INC for the very active and significant roles its leaders and its members have “not only in the spiritual and moral formation, but in nation-building as well.” (PIA)

5.3 million borrowers, P140 B loans since 04

STILL CHARGING onwards, half a decade after President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo launched government help for Small and Medium Enterprise, easy access to short and long term financing has disbursed P140B since 2004.

According to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship’s “Go Negosyo” program, the government access to loans has gotten to 5.3 billion borrowers and has generated 2.46 million new jobs.

Over these developments, the president who was visibly agog conferred the Presidential Awards for Outstanding Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) recently. This is to recognize SMEs contribution as engines of economic growth.

Mrs. Arroyo also awarded 26 Presidential Citations for best practices in MSME promotion and development to various best practices nationwide, majority of them local government units (LGUs) which have streamlined their respective business licensing units. (PIA)
