Boholana is UPLB outstanding alumna

A native of Bohol has been awarded Most Outstanding Alumna by the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) during its recent Loyalty Day celebration.

Ms. Olivia Sylvia Oliver Inciong of Tagbilaran City was also declared by the UPLB College of Development Communication as outstanding alumna.

Ms. Inciong, called Bebot by her friends, is the eldest daughter of McKenna Oliver, a retired soils expert from the Department of Agriculture, and Leoncia Bungabong Oliver (deceased), a retired teacher at the Bohol School of Arts and Trades (now Bohol Island State University). She completed her elementary and high school at the College of the Holy Spirit and Bohol Provincial High School, respectively. She studied for one year at the University of Bohol then moved to the University of the Philippines Los Banos where he took up her bachelor and masteral degrees in Development Communication.

Ms. Inciong has over 30 years of experience in communication with a number of international and national organizations and agencies, among them, the International Rice Research Institute, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, United Nations Information Centre for the Philippines, United Nations Development Programme, Asian Development Bank, and Australian Agency for International Development.

In the civic and professional sectors, she is Charter Vice President and Past President of the Rotary Club of West Bay, Laguna; co-founder of the IRRI Toastmasters Club; former president of the San Pablo City Apex Ladies Club, and a member of the International Association of Facilitators.

Throughout her professional career, she promoted the use of development communication in various community development work.

Ms. Inciong is married to Rolando Inciong from Balayan, Batangas. They have three children: Rolando Giancarlo (BS Statistics); Sylvia Christine (BS Economics); and Regine Stephanie (BS Agriculture) – all graduates from the University of the Philippines Los Banos.
