Pope Francis will also meet “Amang” on Jan 17

Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Tacloban City, Leyte, on January 17 while Tropical Storm “Amang” is approaching Leyte and may make landfall on the same date.  “Amang” will make the Pope’s visit to Tacloban really symbolic.

There are yet no cancellations nor changes  related to the Tacloban City activities for the Pope’s visit.

Tropical storm “Amang” winds are measured at 75kph with gustiness up to 90kph.  It will bring heavy rainfall so flooding and flash floods should be expected in susceptible areas.

Amang is forecast to head northwards after it comes near the eastern seacoast of the Philippines and will traverse the eastern provinces of the country.
