ONE-EYED KING

Sports, like they said is discipline. Discipline builds character, character makes man.
Nobody, not even those Herculeses among mortals can claim they can sustainably hold on to their primes, without discipline.
Aware of this, the Provincial Government in partnership with the Department of Education implements the annual sports development program, aimed at exactly that same thing: character building as the beginnings of sculpting the man from the beast.
So, the Boholympics must be matches in heaven. The governor, who values competitive pursuits to get the best in everyone, sees that there are no losers here. He did not see the losers however.
What the governor did not see, did not know, or does not want to act on it, is that the past Boholympics, is a triumph of evil and a true waste of time and money.
Take for example, in age group competitions, organizers demand birth certificates to level the playing field and make sure everything is fair.
Certainly, documents don’t lie they said. So where lies the catch?
Here’s a clue. Pair the documents names with the pictures of the athletes and you will know how an official can always claim innocence.
All for the stellar glory of a win.
Do organizers know? Of course, these athletes are to represent Bohol, we must not lose.
Fielding over-aged athletes is good, they become one-eyed men in the land of the blind.
Now this fairly explains why Bohol could hardly land in the much stricter national competitions.
If at the Boholympics, we aim to build discipline, then maybe exacting discipline from the organizers would be a start.
