National Arts Month begins

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) begins its National Arts Month-Philippine International Arts Festival (NAM-PIAF) 2009 this February with the theme “Ani ng Sining”. The NAM-PIAF is a series of activities and programs across the country that celebrates Filipino artistry in different mediums of art.

Some of the activities the NAM-PIAF includes are Ani ng Sining Launching, PA (ng)LABAS- a lecture forum on architecture in film, Sayaw Pinoy, Tanghal: the 3rd National University Theater Festival, Taboan: Philippine Writers Festival, Organik Muzik, and Philippine Visual Arts Fest.

In support of the NAM-PIAF the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), through Memorandum Circular 2009-04, has encouraged to undertake activities that will enhance the Filipinos’ understanding and appreciation of the culture and arts.
