President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo launched yesterday, at Bohol Wisdom School Gymnasium, the “Sama-sama Para sa Kalikasan”, a joint project between the government and the Sangguniang Kabataan. The project focuses on the urgent need to protect the ecosystem especially during the global crisis.
The launch of the aforementioned project highlighted the 3-day SK National Federation (SKNF) directorate meeting from March 31-April 2, celebrated here in Bohol.
Arroyo has signed the Executive Order 774 calling for drastic reduction of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions by 50% through massive tree planting, coastal clean-up and marine protection, garbage segregration, composting and the establishment of sufficient materials recovery facilities (MRF) nationwide.
The SKNF have responded to E.O 774 and has now planned 3 activities for this year: (1) National Simultaneous SK Tree Planting; (2) National Coastal Clean-up and Awareness Day; and (3) Production & Distribution of Education & communication materials.
