Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Jesus Verzosa has called a full alert status to all police regional offices (PROs) in Mindanao following a series of bomb attacks in the region during the past three days.
The Chief PNP then instructed police units to coordinate closely with the local crisis management committees for an organized response to the incidents, including post-blast investigation and identification of suspects responsible for the attacks.
The series of bombings started Sunday when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Cotabato City that resulted in the killing of five people while nearly 50 others were wounded.
Two bombing attacks also erupted in Jolo, Sulu and in Iligan City killing of at least three innocent civilians and injuring more than 40 others.(PIA)
