A ‘Total-All-Out’ war against illegal drugs was declared by the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-7). This was contained in the RPOC-7 resolution 2009-01 and was in response to a DILG memorandum circular that that called on all provincial governors, city & municipal mayors, Punong Barangays, and Sanggunian at all levels, for a unified action against illegal drugs and other substances.
PDEA-7 regional director, Randy Pedroso said that of the 3,003 barangays in Central Visayas, 671 barangays have been affected by the drug problem. Bohol has 256 drug affected barangays and 80 of them have already been cleared.
As law enforcers in the region intensified their anti-drug campaign through joint operations, Pedroso reported that from January-June 2009, they had seized a total of 383.58 grams of Shabu and some 676 pieces of assorted drug paraphernalia.
