BMI to see if Superferry 9 stowed its cargoes right

THE Board of Marine Inquiry (B-M-I) would look at the cargo hold of the ill-fated Super Ferry 9 to see if there was no un-even stowing of cargoes that may have caused tilting.

According to B-M-I Commander Ramon Reblora, they need to see if cargoes on the sunk ship were balanced right.

In his testimony, ill-fated ship captain Jose Yap said that still winds measuring 10 knots caused the boat to tilt on its side.

Yap added that even if the crew tried to even the boat by heeling or allowing water to the boat ballast tanks to straighten the boat, it continued to tilt.

The B-M-I believed that a 10 know wind would not be enough to list a 7,268 ton boat. (PIA)
