“Adopted” Boholano gets Order of Sikatuna award

ADOPTED Boholano and Korean ambassador to the Philippines now bows out after rendering exemplary diplomatic service to the country but waves a presidential citation handed by no less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo early this week as he leaves.

South Korean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Choi Joong-Kyung, also the brains behind the multi-industry-cluster (MIC) set for implementation in northeastern Bohol gets the Order of Sikatuna and a presidential citation as he is set to rise as Senior Economic Adviser to the Korean President.

The Order of Sikatuna is conferred upon diplomats, officials, and foreign nationals who have rendered significant services in fostering, developing, and strengthening relations between their country and the Philippines, reports revealed.

The Silver Distinction, Order of Datu Sikatuna award to Choi was in recognition of his significant and outstanding contribution to the enhancement of Philippine and South Korean relations especially on the advancement of bilateral relations between the two countries as highlighted by the successful state visit of President Arroyo to Korea.
