Abaya urges dialogues on peace

OUTGOING Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Annabelle T. Abaya has called on peace partners to continue engaging dialogues until a lasting peace is attained in Mindanao.

As a presidential appointee, Abaya will relinquish her post by June 30.

“By June 30, I will be joining you as a partner brandishing the banner of peace,” she told representatives from a broad section of society during the “Peace Forum for Sustained Partnership” at the Hacienda de Palmeras in Zamboanga City over the weekend.

Abaya said that dialogues are crucial to craft a common vision for the future and to help clear up understanding on ticklish issues.

Abaya, at the same time, stressed the importance of a sustained information dissemination campaign for the people to know the issues involved. In the recent Dialogue Mindanaw wherein the people were asked to get their views and opinions on various issues related to the peace process, Abaya said that no consensus was made because people had so many questions.
