CSC enjoins heads of gov’t offices to lead “Brigada Ahensiya”

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) encourages all heads of government entities, as well as LGUs, to lead their staff in the “Brigada Ahensiya”, an annual clean-up program. The program was launched this May on the principle that a clean, orderly and beautiful work environment enhances efficiency and client satisfaction.

Under the program, each agency and LGU will choose one to three days in May 2009 for its Brigada Ahensiya, to be repeated every year, involving clean-up, repair, repainting and refurbishing of their respective workplaces. Staff can also adhere to the Five S’s – Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Standardize and Sustain.

Other activities that could be also considered are carpentry repairs, repainting and refurbishing of facilities as well as planting and landscaping. (PIA)

DepEd, DTI: Prices of school supplies stable

Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Jesli Lapus, together Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) representatives, inspected prices of school supplies today at Divisoria as part of preparations for school opening under Oplan Balik Eskwela. They were also joined by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Notebooks with 80 leaves can be purchased for PhP8 to PhP8.50. A pad with 90 sheets costs PhP15 to PhP18. A box of eight crayons costs PhP15, while a box of 16 costs PhP30. A box of 24 costs PhP40.

Oplan Balik Eskwela is a series of preparations for school opening initiated by DepEd. Aside from ensuring that prices of school supplies remain stable, DepEd prohibits the collection of all fees in public schools in June. (DepEd)

RDCC 7 convenes to tackle first confirmed human A(H1N1) case in RP

The officials for Regional Disaster Coordinating Council of Central Visayas convened yesterday morning to discuss their plan of action in the light of the reported first confirmed case of a ten-year-old girl from the USA-Canada.

DOH 7 Regional Director and de facto Chair of the RDCC Dr. Susana Madarieta said that the meeting is important so there will be unified approach of the council in addressing the pandemic scenario of the Human A(H1N1) flu virus which is considered by the World Health Organization as a public health concern.

Contrary to earlier reports the first recorded confirmed case in the country did not come from the region but in Manila. With the first A(H1N1) virus confirmed case, the Philippines now registers as the 42nd country to have been affected by the virus.

The RDCC 7 is set to consolidate their plan of action in the latter part next week which will be forwarded to the National Disaster Coordinating Council for assessment and budgetary needs. (PIA)

Kini maoy tambag sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) sa pagsulod sa panahon sa ting-uwan.

Butyag ni Nathaniel Servando sa PAG-ASA, gipaabot pa ang labaw sa normal nga uwan sama sa milabayng mga semana dala sa namugnang weather systems sama sa Low Presssure Areas (LPAs), inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) ug Tropical Cyclones.

Matud niya, ang sayo nga pagsibog sa ITCZ nagpasayon sa pagka-anod sa timog-kasadpang hangin paingon sa kasadpan ug timog nga bahin sa nasud, nga maoy hinungdan sa uwan. (PIA)

COMELEC naningkamot makaapas automated nga piniliay sa 2010
