US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ensures to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo a stronger Philippine-US relations under the Barrack Obama Presidency.
In a meeting with Secretary Clinton, Arroyo talked about many things and its not just for social purposes. According to Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo, amidst the criticisms that they were only socializing.
Included in the topics talked about during the meeting were the issues of peace in Mindanao, and projects as steps against the global crisis. (rachiu/PIA)

Ten thousand job opportunities are needed in South Australia are waiting especially for the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) that were displaced, according to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
According to POEA Administrator Jennifer Jardin-Manalili, Australia will accept construction workers, welders and pipe-fitters for the road restoration for the next 10 years.
It is estimated that 133 million workers are needed by Australia until 2018 while another 206 million job opportunities will be open due to the closing services there. (rachiu/PIA)

To answer the encouragement to help give jobs, especially to the dispalced workers in the midst of global crisis, the CITIBANK will employ more than 1,000 workers for this year.
This was country manager, Mark Jones, reveals.
The hiring of workers, is included in the company’s program of broadening their services. This is a big help for the Pinoy workers, especially amidst the global crisis that is happening.
Last year, the company also hired more than 500 workers.
CITIBANK has more than 56 branches and more than 1.2 million in card holders in the entire nation. (aee/PIA-Bohol)

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo decrees that the Economic Stimulus Package, which is worth P330-B, should be implemented as soon as possible. This is so, to minimize the effects of the global crisis
Based on the said package, the government will be creating 1.3 million jobs, sending of 1,000 nurses to the poorest towns, and green collar workers.
The plan of adding new jobs and livelihood, is the result of the agreement between DOLE and 137 representatives from the sectors of trade, Church, businesses, schools, government officials and NGOs.
Based on the “green collar” project; the displaced workers will work in projects that are natural to them. Such as, planting of trees and jatropha, guarding and cleaning of coasts, and others.
The government encourages the local government units to donate P2,000 from the P10,000 salary for the hiring of nurses who will work and head the primary health program in the towns.
Included also in the “stimulus package” is the Livelihood program of Land Bank, DPB, and other government agencies (aee/PIA-Bohol)

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo chiefly initiated the Job Summit to ensure jobs and help Pinoy workers in the global crisis.
According to Secretary Marianito Roque, the summit with a theme of “Joining Hands Against the Global Crisis,” is an answer for the discharging of Pinoy workers abroad.
“The government is determined to give jobs to the workers discharged,” adds Roque.
It is believed that 200 will join the summit from the sectors of trade, Church, businesses, schools, government officials and NGOs. (aee/PIA-Bohol)
