A 100 Chinese students together with their 20 teachers of Sichuan, China will visit he country and tour Bohol in the following days.
The delegation from China confirmed the invitation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo after she saw the destruction in the province caused by the earthquake last May 2008. The visit is included in the psychological regress of the children after the experience after the earthquake.

The subsidy from the government can still be depended, that is if the rice price increase will ring true.
It was first predicted by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), that there will be a problem in the production of rice due to the due to scrutinized lending with excessive increase of its price there is a greater demand of it.
Because of this, there will be a unpredictable rice price increase according to IRRI. In preparation for such event, it was promulgated by the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) head Cerge Remonde that the IRRI helped in the preparation for the country even though at the moment rice production is good.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced the calendar of national civil service examinations to be conducted in 2009. The schedules are: Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional examinations (paper-and-pencil test) — March 29, July 26, and November 15; and Local Scholarship Program-Master’ s Degree Course (LSP-MDC) – May10.

The National Government will allocate P2.8 Billion for cost-sharing with local government units (LGU) to facilitate the shift from open and controlled dumpsites to sanitary landfills. The proposed financing scheme for solid waste management program will include a National Government grant of 40% for 1st- and 2nd- class cities and 25% to 3rd- and 4th- class cities.
The LGUs have said that lack of funds were the main barrier to comply with the Solid Waste Management Act particularly the establishment of a sanitary landfill.
Citing Section 37 of the Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, government has been continuously calling for the establishment and sound management of landfill sites in the country in order to address the threats of waste to the environment and to human health.

City lawmakers identified, together with the minority bloc, questioned the P78.8 million increase in this year’s budget of the city government.
From last year’s obligated expenditure of P258,238,389.00, the proposed budget for
this year skyrocketed to P337,052,121.00 or a P78 M increase for 2009.
A big surprise since 2008’s budget was even reduced from P343 million in 2007 down to P295 million in 2008.
City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso questioned what projects are in the pipeline for this year to be funded by such considerable increase in the budget. City Budget
officer Rose Palma of the Sangguniang Panlungsod could only mention of a P20-million appropriations allotted for vacant positions.
Palma was then requested to bring during the next session, the list of projects to as to justify the P78M budget increase.
Veloso says that as elected officials, they are accountable to the public for every centavo spent through projects and services.
