Launching of the DTI-SMEDSEP Programs

The Launching of the Department of Trade & Industry – Bohol and the GTZ Small and Medium Enterprises Development through Sustainable Employment Program (SMEDSEP) took place at the Island City Mall Activity Center on July 24, 2008. This was one of the major events during the SME Day.

The launching was opened up with a Background of the SMEDSEP by Ms, Aster Caberte, the Regional Director of the DTI-VII. Shortly a Message on Partnerships was given by Mr. Volker Steigerwald, a representattive of the German Technological Corporation (GTZ). Afterwards, a presentation ws shown regarding the Bohol SMEDSEP Projects.

It was then followed up by speeches of the different branches of the SMEDSEP. First, was Dr. Elpidio Magante, the President of CVSCAFT; second, was Engr. Ramir Bongahoy, the President of Cebu GTH Foundation; and lastly, was Ms. Emilia Rosalinda, of PROCESS – Bohol.

The launching ended with an MOA signing and a pictorial of the SMEDSEP Members.

Launching of the Bohol SMED Council

The Launching of the Bohol Small & Medium Enterprises Development Council was one of the events that graced the SME Day. The event tackled about the Initiatives of the Bohol SMED Council.

The program was started with an Opening Remarks from Ms. Aster Caberte, the Regional Director of DTI -VII; followed by a Rationale of the SMED Plan by Mr. Norris Oculam, the Chairman of the Bohol SMED Council. After which, a Powerpoint presentation was played regarding the “Bohol Harmonized SMED Plan”. The “Tatak Bohol Seal of Excellence” was then presented by Ms. Nannette Arbon, the Provincial Director of DTI-Bohol. And there was then a Recognition of Bohol SMED-C Members.

And lastly, the launching ended with an MOC signing, to show support for the Bohol SMED Plan, and was followed by a pictorial.

SME Day at the Sandugo Showcase ’08

July 24th was proclaimed “Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Day”. It was filled with events that helped the SMEs, not only here in Bohol but in the region as well, to develop itself and grow. The SME Day was held at the Island City Mall Activity Center.

The SME Day consisted of the following events: The Launching of the Bohol Small and Medium Enterprises Development (SMED) Council; the Launching of the Department of Trade & Industry – Small & Medium Enterprises Development through Sustainable Employment Programs (DTI-SMEDSEP); the Launching of the Sub-contracting Partners for Innovation Program Program.

Malikhaing Paggamit ng Yamang Likas Exhibit at the Sandugo Showcase ’08

During the Sandugo Showcase ’08 which was held at the Island City Mall, an exhibition was held titled as “Malikhaing Paggamit ng Yamang Likas” which feautured crafts made from sabutan, coconut, coco husk, manila palm, fish scales and banana. They also showed information about loomweaving and crafts created from recycled materials.

This exhibition was a project by Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), Bureau of Domestic Trade (BDT) and 1001 Strategies Product Development Consultancy.

SANDUGO SHOWCASE ’08 – The Visayan Creative Fusion

On the 23rd -27th of July this year, the Sandugo Regional Product and Raw Material Showcase, which was titled “The Visayan Creative Fusion”, was held at the Island City Mall.

There were many organizations that joined the event. Each booth was grouped into sections depending on the products they were exhibiting. The Handcrafted Section was the one with most booths; displaying mostly accessories, bags and shoes made up of different indigenous materials.

There was also the Woven Products Section with booths displaying products woven from their organization’s specialty raw material.

The booths in the Agriculture Section were displaying information and organically grown products like fruits, vegetables, etc.

Also, there was the Tourism Section where booths displayed the products and tourist attractions of the organization’s destination.

And lastly, there was the IT section, that was composed of only two booths: the Bohol Infomation and Communcation Technology (ICT )Council and the auza.net.
