GSIS introduces new process in membership database maintenance

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) introduced a new procedure that would expectedly put in order the database of its members.

The streamlined process is also expected to minimize occurrence of billing issues on compulsory premiums, and ensure a faster and accurate settlement of claims and loans granting, among others.

Under the new process, the Agency Authorized Officers (AAO) are the GSIS’ valued partners and source of information especially in the timely submission of any required information of their respective agencies. (PIA)

Palace urges prayer for peace

In a campaign to instill greater consciousness on the Filipinos, the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Peace Process (OPAPP) has released a prayer for peace. Dubbed the “Harmony Prayer”, it instills on Filipinos the comprehensive peace process and to promote a culture of peace based on non-violence, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, tolerance, understanding and solidarity.

CSC reiterates deadline for career service exams

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced that interested applicants have until today to file for the Career Service Professional and Sub-professional written examinations to be conducted nationwide on November 15.

Both examinations are open to Filipino citizens who are at least 18 years old, regardless of educational attainment, and have not reached the limitation on the frequency of taking the examinations.

Career service examinations, may be taken once every three months and up to four times only. Examinees who fail on the fourth attempt can apply for the same level of examination only after two years from the date the fourth failed examination was taken.

All examination applications must be filed at CSC Regional and Field Offices.

Meanwhile, the results of July 26 exams are out. A total of 5,612 examinees passed the Professional and Sub-professional examinations. (CSC/PIA)

Malacañang becomes relief center for “Ondoy” victims

Malacanang becomes the relief center for the victims of tropical storm “Ondoy,” upon instructions of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said the Oplan Sagip Bayan has been mobilized to work with media agencies, civic groups, and other organizations involved in the operation.

The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) report said the Armed Forces has dispatched M35 trucks to haul relief goods for distribution in Marikina City.

Also, 15 personnel from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Fire Department and SWAT (IED) brought along rescue van, one rubber boat, and two dump trucks.

A US contingent rescued six persons from Ever Gotesco, Cainta, and distributed two hundred packs of assorted goods to affected families. (PIA)

WFP provides food assistance to “Ondoy” victims

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) providesfood rations to around 180,000 Filipinos who are struggling to cope with the impact of the storm.

Some 80 percent of capital city Manila was submerged after the record rainfall, and more than 450,000 people were affected. At least 145,000 people – many of whom found themselves neck deep in water on Saturday – have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in evacuation centres or host communities. The Government has declared a “state of calamity” in Manila and 25 provinces.

On Sunday, WFP participated in a government-organized helicopter fly-over of some of the most affected areas. (WFP/PIA)
