This, as a group of photo-enthusiasts here present “PITIK: Tipik Sa Dugong Bol-anon, a photo competition open to Professional and amateur shooting on July 25 and only at the Sandugo 2010 Street-dancing Festival.
The move, is claimed to be the group’s little contribution to promoting Bohol as a major eco-cultural tourism destination by showcasing it’s diverse and colorful culture and advance local creative energies into world-class artistic skill, according to photojournalist and contest organizer Nilo Sapong.
The catch however is, Photos must be taken during the Sandugo street dancing parade and its subjects are the dancers, propsmen, instrumentalists, muses and even onlookers who may well depict the festive street-dancing event and portray a distinctive definition of a Boholano, he said.
According to him, participants can use any digital, including, cell-phones with cameras, or film-based camera to document the action or portraiture and have it developed in size 8R at the entrant’s expense from the competition’s official developing center at the BQ Mall. (PIA-Bohol)

AVERTING the offshoot of similar tourism products in every town, which may spoil other destinations, the Provincial Tourism Council has proposed the setting up of a clearing-house for tourism development projects.
During the recent full council meeting Wednesday last week, the PTC recommended the setting up of a “clearing chouse” as a way to pre-clear any proposed tourism site development to avoid duplication of tourism products.
On the recommendation, tourism stakeholders believe that setting up of a body to evaluate proposed new tourism development can further help Bohol in its efforts to boosts its eco-tourism potentials.
Tourism Council Chairman Atty. Lucas Nunag has asked the governor to come up with the body said it would be good if those intending to put up more tourism would be guided. (PIA-Bohol)

RESCUERS retrieved three more bodies from the sea on Sunday, raising the death toll from tropical storm Basyang (international name: Conson) to 68, but more bad weather was hampering search operations.
Damage to farm, infrastructure and private property rose to P188 million on Sunday from P22.3 million last Friday, according to a report released by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) at 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
Benito T. Ramos, chief of the Office of Civil Defense and executive director of the NDCC said rescuers, including volunteers and troops, continued to scour coastal areas in the country’s southeastern seaboard on Sunday, where the majority of the 84 still missing from a sunken fishing vessel were reported.
However, he said fresh rains brought on by a new weather disturbance east of the main island of Luzon were hampering search and rescue operations. State weather forecasters however said it was unlikely to develop into a full-blown storm.
Basyang slammed into the country on Tuesday, directly hitting the capital Manila as it cut westward into the South China Sea with a ferocity that caught weather forecasters by surprise. (PIA-Bohol)
