Adunay 90 ka adlaw si Presidente Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III aron magbutang og bag-ong punong mahistrado apan target nilang maka-sumite og listahan sa mga nominado sulod sa 45 ka adlaw.
Gibutyag ni Cayosa nga base sa Batakang Balaod, adunay tulo ka minimum requirement aron ma-nominate o irekomendar sa posisyon. Angay natural born Filipino citizen, 40 anyos pataas ug adunay 15 ka tuig nga kasinatian sa pagserbisyo isip hukom o pag-practice sa
balaod.
Apan tungod kay chief justice man ang gihisgotan, mas maayo kun mas taas pa ang kwalipikasyon.

MALACAÑANG bared the significant growth in the country’s economy that were attributed to the continued confidence by the private sector on the Aquino administration, including the increase in exports and the increase in expenditures by the Filipino people.
In a regular press briefing in Malacanang on Thursday, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte read a statement on the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in the first quarter of 2012 which, she said, was the highest in Asia and in the entire Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
“The Philippine economy grew by 6.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2012. The better than expected economic growth was due to sustained private sector confidence and accelerated government spending. There were healthy increases in the services sector, complemented by growth in exports and increases in household consumption expenditures,” Valte said.
“The first quarter GDP figure validates the optimistic outlook of the President and his economic team. It is the highest first quarter GDP growth in a non-election year since 2006; the second highest in Asia; and the highest growth rate in the entire ASEAN region for this
period,” she added.
“We are confident that the positive trajectory of our GDP growth will be sustained in the latter quarters of this year, which has traditionally demonstrated more robust and dynamic economic performance. Moreover, this affirmation of our country’s steady advance toward inclusive growth comes at the heels of Moody’s Investors Service upgrade of our credit
outlook to positive from stable. All indications point to the global economy’s continued confidence in the Philippines, as well as to a more optimistic outlook within the country,” Valte explained.
At the height of these achievements, Valte assured that the government will continue to pursue its reform agenda and efforts to ensure the improvement of the lives of the Filipinos.
“The hard work continues, on the firm foundations of these recent achievements. As the Aquino administration has been resolute in carrying out its agenda of reform and in institutionalizing good governance, it will continue to be equally steadfast in translating our
economy’s gains into employment opportunities, programs geared toward poverty alleviation, and the systemic improvement of the way of life of Filipinos,” Valte noted. (PCOO)

Former Chief Justice Renato Corona was given the guilty verdict yesterday by the Senator-Judges of the Impeachment Court under Article 2 of the Articles of Impeachment alleging betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Constitution. The votes came in 20 against 3.
A few hours after the verdict was given, Corona released to the media his official response to his conviction:
“Kung ito po ang ikabubuti ng ating bayan, tinatanggap ko na po ang kalbaryong aming pinagdaanan (If this will be for the better of our country, I am accepting this Calvary we’re going through),” he said.
“Dahil sa simula’t sapul naman ay handa na akong mag-alay ng sariling buhay para sa bayan (Because even from the start I was ready to sacrifice my life for the nation).
“Kung kaya, ipinapaubaya ko na po sa ating Poong Maykapal at sa taong bayan na higit na makapangyarihan sa ating demokrasya ang aking kinabukasan at ang kinabukasan ng ating Hudikatura (That’s why I am surrendering myself to the Lord and our people who are more powerful in our democracy, my fate and the future of our judiciary).”
Although Corona submits to the decision of the Impeachment Court, he however maintains his innocence and in his belief that he was a victim of politics.

The Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, Tuesday, passed a guilty verdict against Chief Justice Renato Corona. 23 Senators voted for conviction while 3 voted for acquittal.
The Senators voted on Article 2 of the Impeachment Articles alleging betrayal of public trust and or commission of culpable violation of the Constitution for the CJ’s failure to disclose alleged properties and bank accounts in his statement of assets and liabilities and net worth (SALN) from 2003 to 2010.
Senator-Judges who voted for conviction were Sen. Edgardo Angara, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano. Sen. Pia Cayetano, Sen. Franklin Drilon, Sen. Francis Escudero, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Teoofisto Guingona, Sen. Gringo Honasan, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Sen. Lito Lapid, sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Sergio Osmena, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel, Sen. Ralph Recto, Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., Sen. Vicente Sotto III, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, Sen. Manny Villar and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.
Voting otherwise where Sen. Joker Arroyo, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago and Sen Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos.
The Chief Magistrate faced three of the eight impeachment articles filed last December by the House of Representatives. The Impeachment Court voted only on Article 2.

As of this posting, 17 senators have given their speeches and declared their votes and the count is in favor of conviction of the Chief magistrate. Tally is now at 14-3, with only 2 votes left on order to convict Chief Justice Corona.
