TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, June 06 (PIA)–Nagpasalamat ang Coalition of Association of Senior Citizens in the Philippines o Senior Citizens Party-list sa gipagawas nga status quo ante order (SQAO) sa Supreme Court (SC) nga nagpahunong sa gipahamtang nga diskwalipikasyon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Una nang gi-pugngan sa SC ang diskwalipikasyon sa Comelec pinaagi sa temporary restraining order (TRO) ni Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno sa proklamasyon sa uban pang midaug nga party-list.
Apan kagahapon, Miyerkules sa buntag, wala ratipikahi sa Korte Suprema ang TRO, apan nipagawas hinuon kini og SQAO alang sa Senior Citizens Party-list ug Abang Lingkod.
Matud pa ni Representative Godofredo Arquiza, pagmatuod kini nga wala pasagdi sa Korte Suprema ang mga mahinungdanong isyu, apil na usab ang mga gidaug-daug.
“Syempre natutuwa po ako, nagpapasalamat po ako sa ating mga justices at hindi po pinapabayaan ‘yung tunay na isyu… Nagpapasalamat po kami sa Supreme Court na talagang maaasahan ng mga taong naaapi.”
Kun padayon nang ma-proklama, duha ka lingkuranan sa Kongreso ang makuha sa Senior Citizens Party-list tungod sa 677,000 boto nga nakuha nila.

THE Philippines and Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste signed three agreements Thursday aimed at strengthening cooperation on foreign relations, education and infrastructure development.
Timor-Leste Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, who arrived in Manila early morning Thursday, joined President Benigno S. Aquino III in witnessing the signing of the three agreements in Malacañang on Thursday.
One of the agreements signed was the memorandum of understanding on policy consultations between the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines and Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The agreement was signed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario for the Philippines and Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Jose Luis Guterres for Timor-Leste.
Also signed was the memorandum of understanding between the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Ministry of Public Works of Timor-Leste.
Secretary Rogelio Singson signed for the Philippines and Minister Francisco de Sousa of the Ministry of Public Works singed for Timor-Leste.
The memorandum of the understanding on teacher training between the Philippine Normal University and the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste was also signed Thursday.
Secretary Patricia Licuanan of the Commission on Higher Education signed for the Philippines while Minister Bendito dos Santos of Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Education signed for his country.
The Philippines and Timor-Leste already have tie ups in education prior to the signing of the MOU on education Thursday.
Thirty-two of more than 100 Timorese scholars in the Philippines have finished their studies here and have returned to their country to share the insights gained in the Philippines.
Twenty Timorese scholars are graduating this year and they are expected to contribute to Timor-Leste’s development. (PND)

Gitogotan lamang nga mo-inom ang mga empleyado kun adunay programa, special events ug kun may pagsaulog sa mga local customs ug tradisyon.

THE government is eyeing to use the P27.89 billion in dividends and other remittances turned over by 38 government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) to the national government to support public expenditures, including those for the rehabilitation of typhoon-hit areas across the country.
Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Florencio B. Abad in a statement said that the total earnings turned over by GOCCs to President Benigno S. Aquino III—an amount significantly higher than the P10-billion target for this year—will also be used to fund more infrastructure projects and social programs under the unprogrammed fund of the 2013 national budget.
“The GOCC earnings will play a large role in supporting many of our more urgent expenditure needs, including those for rehabilitating areas struck by Typhoon Pablo in 2012, as well as other unprogrammed expenditures and budgetary items. Additionally, the dividends will help create broader fiscal space to accommodate our growing budget requirements, especially for priority programs that will advance the Administration’s growth agenda,” Abad said.
The top five corporations with the biggest remittances are the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) with P7.2 billion, the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) with P6.2 billion, the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) with P3.2 billion, the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) with P2.3 billion, and the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) with P2.0 billion.
Abad also noted the impact of accountability and transparency measures on the performance of the country’s GOCCs since the passage of Republic Act 10149 or the GOCC Governance Act two years ago.
“The transparency and accountability reforms adopted by our GOCCs enabled them to become more productive and efficient, a development that can only bring us better news for the country’s economic horizon. With the fiscal gains we posted in the first half of President Aquino’s term, the Philippines is now poised to sustain its development momentum and ensure that further economic expansion in the country will benefit all Filipinos,” Abad said. Ubos sa Republic Act 7656, gimanduan ang tanang GOCCs nga e-remit ang ilang dividend sa National Treasury.
Niadtong 2011, gilagdaan ni PNoy ang Republic Act 10149 o “The Government Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCC) Governance Act of 2011″ nga nagtinguha og reporma sa operasyon sa mga state-owned enterprises ug pagpapas sa pag-abusar ilabi na sa sobrang pagpanghatag og bonus ug allowance sa mga opisyal niini.
Sukad sa pagpatuman sa GOCC Governance Act of 2011, naka-remit na og P29 bilyon niadtong 2010 ug P19.2 bilyon niadtong 2011 ang GOCCs.
Ang Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) ang may pinakadakung na-remit nga dividend nga nagkantidad og P6.24 bilyon alang sa 2012.
