Sa labing ulahing survey sa National Statistics Office (NSO), migawas nga sa 29 ka milyong kabataang Filipino nga may edad 5 hangtud 17-anyos, halos 5.5 milyon niini mga child workers.
Sa maong gidaghanon sa child workers, halos 3 milyon niini delikado ang trabaho ilabi na sa mga kabataang lalaki nga mikabat sa 66.8-percent, samtang 33.2 percent usab ang mga kabataang babaye nga naa sa hazardous child labor.

Red tide alert sa Tagbilaran bay area
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, June 27 (PIA)–Nipahimangno ang mga tinugyanan sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) sa publiko nga likayan una ang pagkaon sa tanang matang sa mga kinhason nga makuha sa kadagatan sa syudad tungod sa red tide.
Gibutyag ni Cresencio Pahamutang, ang tinugyanan sa BFAR nga gawas sa Tagbilaran bay area, mikatap na ngadto sa walo ka barangay sa syudad ang red tide.
Una nang nipahimangno sa miaging mga adlaw ang BFAR sa paglikay sa pagkaon sa tanang matang sa kinhason dinha sa Causeway nga gitaliwad-an sa Dauis ug Tagbilaran.

HUNDREDS of thousands of Filipino workers are needed in the Middle East, according to Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.
A construction boom in many parts of the Middle East is creating job opportunities for Filipinos. Countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and United Arab Emirates are undertaking big infrastructure projects that are estimated to cost $10 billion.
According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), there is a huge demand for construction workers in the region. Construction workers typically earn between $400 to $800 a month.
Meanwhile, in Canada, skilled workers such as pipe-fitters, welders and farmers are needed, while in Australia, there is a demand for nurses.
In a radio interview, Baldoz said the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) are negotiating with Australia and Canada for them to recognize the schools where Filipinos graduate from.
In Asia, Malaysia is undertaking a 5-year development program, which will require hundreds of thousands of workers.
Around 9,000 Filipinos will also be allowed to work in South Korea as factory workers this year.
Baldoz said only licensed recruitment agencies will be allowed to deploy workers. She said it is important for jobseekers to check the POEA website first to see if the recruitment agency is a licensed one. (DOLE)

THE Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) reported that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) responded positively to the initiatives of the Philippine government to enhance its transparency and accountability mechanisms in financial transactions, a Palace official said on Saturday.
In an interview aired over government-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Saturday, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte issued the statement following reports on the non-inclusion of the Philippines in the FATF’s black list of non-cooperative countries.
In his letter to President Benigno S. Aquino III, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr., in his capacity as Chairman of the AMLC, said that the FATF has recognized the reforms instituted by the Philippine government by upgrading the Philippines from the “dark grey list” to its “grey list.”
According to Governor Tetangco’s report, the FATF took notice of the passage of key legislative reforms certified as urgent by the President. In particular, the bills recently signed into law – “An Act To Further Strengthen The Anti-Money Laundering Law” and “The Terrorism Financing Prevention And Suppression Act of 2012” – strengthened the capability of government to identify and prevent financial transactions related to illegal activities and those that undermine global security.
“These reforms enabled the Philippines from being classified and downgraded to the “black list,” which would have resulted in stricter inspections of financial transactions in the country, delayed remittances, and higher transaction fees,” Valte said.
Valte reiterated that transparency and accountability are among the foremost guiding principles of the Aquino administration.
“And while we recognize that more needs to be done to strengthen our existing anti-money laundering and anti-financial terrorism measures, we take the satisfaction expressed by the FATF as affirmation of the institutional reforms that we have constantly advocated,” she said.
The Financial Action Task Force was established by the G-7 Summit that was held in Paris in 1989 in response to mounting concerns over money laundering. This inter-governmental body sets the standards and promotes effective implementation of legal, regulatory and operational measures for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system.

Matud pa ni Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya, agi kini og pagsunod sa DTI Administrative Order No. 10-40, nga gilagdaan niadtong Hunyo 25, 2010, diin nakalatid nga epektibo Hulyo 1, 2012, tanan nga i-isyung mga GC wala nay expiry date.
“Kapag ang gift check na hawak-hawak n’yo ngayon ay expiring before July 1, gamitin nyo na po. Ngayon, kung ang expiry date ay lalagpas sa July 1 at gusto nyo pong palitan para ma-extend o magkaroon ng expiry date ay puwede nilang iprisinta sa supplier para palitan at alisin ang expiry date,” matud pa ni Maglaya.
Gibutyag usab ni Maglaya nga aduna usab mga exempted niining kamanduan ilabi na kun naapil sa promo ang usa ka GC.

FIRST was the 2012 Global Peace Index by the Institute for Economics and Peace that ranked the Philippines among the top five nations that registered “improvements in peacefulness.” The Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan survey results came next that showed high approval ratings on the Aquino Administration’s efforts in “increasing peace in the country.”
“Similar to other governance reforms being implemented under this administration, President Aquino’s continuing efforts on peace and security are already being felt and recognized not just by our people, but also by the international community.” said Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Teresita Quintos Deles, who welcomed the results of both studies. “These will further raise the public’s hopes for a just and lasting peace” she added.
The 2012 Global Peace Index report stated that the Philippines’ high score was a result of improvements in the indicators which are homicide rate; number of deaths from internal conflict; likelihood of violent demonstrations; and incidence of terrorist acts.
Moreover, it said that the country previously rated at moderate or high levels in the four indicators. Among the incidents which affected the ratings in the past years include the conflict between the national government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in mid-2007; the Maguindanao massacre in 2008; and violence perpetrated by the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu in 2011.
The other countries in the Top Five ranking are Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bhutan and Guyana.
On the other hand, Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan National Survey conducted on May 20 to 26, 2012 pointed out that 50 percent of respondents approve of the P-Noy administration’s efforts on “increasing peace in the country.”
Efforts to fight corruption in the government garnered the highest approval score of 58 percent, while fighting criminality and enforcing the law equally on all citizens got 56 percent and 52 percent, respectively. (OPPAP)
