Apan matud pa ni Jimenez nga may gitawag man nga ‘truth in advertising’.
(ecb/PIA7-Bohol)

The Department of Trade and Industry launched the E-commerce Caravan in April 2016. The series of Negosyo Center Seminars on Expanding Your Business through E-Commerce were held in Davao City, Santiago City in Isabella, and Baguio City. In its first month, the E-commerce Caravan attracted over 700 prospective online merchants.
“By introducing e-commerce, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide are exposed to a wider range of options on how to expand their market reach and do business with ease,” said Supervising Undersecretary for E-Commerce Prudencio M. Reyes, Jr.
The e-commerce seminars are designed to engage MSMEs into becoming online merchants. The seminars provide a venue for e-commerce champions, gurus, and service providers to share their know-how and expertise on e-commerce. Participants learn how to avail of existing facilities such as e-payment, logistics, customer relations management, as well as how to strengthen brand presence, brand marketing, and ensure consumer protection.
“There are no geographical limitations, operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week, targeted buyers are close to 45 million in the Philippines alone, and businesses can already go beyond the brick and mortar setting,” Reyes added.
Based on preliminary reports from the regions, the four (4) seminars encouraged nearly 250 MSMEs to register on various e-commerce platforms and take the next step towards taking their business online.
Earlier this month, the E-commerce Caravan went to Iloilo City where 170 prospective online entrepreneurs attended the seminar.
“We are off to a good start. At the end of the year, our target is to enable over 2,500 MSMEs to take their business online. The e-commerce seminars will help us reach this goal,” said Director Virgilio P. Fulgencio, E-Commerce Office Head.
The e-commerce caravan supports the implementation of the Philippine E-Commerce Roadmap 2016-2020. PECR 2016- 2020 presents the strategic plans, policies, and other support measures to harness the benefits of e-commerce.
MSMEs are invited to participate in the free e-commerce seminars in May during the Negosyo, Konsyumer Atbp (NKATB) events: May 13 in Butuan City; May 24 in General Santos City; and May 27 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur
For those who would like to participate in the June 10 e-commerce seminar in Cebu City, interested parties may contact Victoria Diaz of the DTI Central Visayas Business development Division at 255.0036 local 602.

Edtech startup Edukasyon.ph and University of Asia and the Pacific
(UA&P) have joined forces to create an online education information
service to give OFW parents a faster way to know about senior high and
college options available for their kids.
Edukasyon.ph Chief Executive Officer Linartes M. Viloria and
University President Winston Conrad B. Padojinog inked the agreement
on April 26, 2016 at the University of Asia and the Pacific campus in
Ortigas.
“We are very excited and happy to be partners with University of Asia
and the Pacific in providing online application assistance for inbound
college and senior high school students. This is particularly helpful
for our OFW parents who are helping their children decide on their
school options all the way from abroad. This way our OFW parents can
still participate not only in the decision-making but in interacting
with schools for their kids’ education,” said Edukasyon.ph CEO
Linartes Viloria.
Through this partnership, UA&P can accept online applications via
Edukasyon.ph. This year UA&P launches its unique 6-year Integrated
University Program (6YP) which is open to all Grade 10 graduates. 6YP
combines two years of senior high school, three years of undergraduate
program, and the final year for a Master’s degree, all within six
years.
“Parents and students can explore a variety of academic options
through their account on Edukasyon.ph website, which features
information about 6YP, events, admissions, enrollment announcements,
scholarships and qualification requirements”, said Beng
Calma-Alcazaren, U&AP Marketing Director.
The following degrees may be obtained through the 6YP: Master of Arts
in Communications major in Integrated Marketing Communication, Master
of Arts in Humanities, Master of Science in Management, Master of
Science in Industrial Economics, Master of Science in Political
Economy with specialization in International Relations and
Development.
“We want to help our parents participate in their children’s education
regardless of how far they may be. With the signing of the MOA with
UA&P, Edukasyon.ph is bringing the Filipino youth closer to their
dreams. We believe that this partnership is one of the many steps we
have to take in order to provide our students quality information that
can lead to brighter jobs,” Edukasyon.ph Founder Henry Motte-Muñoz
emphasized.
About Edukasyon.ph
Edukasyon.ph was established by French-Filipino Henry Motte-Muñoz in
2013. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Harvard
Business School, Henry was inspired to launch an education website in
the Philippines because of the poor sources of information on academic
opportunities in the country and overseas. He is the only Filipino who
made it to the Class of 2015 Asia 21 Young Leaders, a network of young
leaders from across the Asia Pacific, representing the private,
public, and non-profit sectors. Henry is one of 10 Filipinos included
in the Forbes 30 under 30. The list features young entrepreneurs,
innovators, and leaders in Asia across 10 fields.
