ANG mga opisyal sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)
nangandam na sa ilang mga contingency measures sa pag-abot sa usa na usab ka
posibleng bagyo nga ‘Katring’.
Sa usa ka radio interview, si NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos ni ingon nga anaa
pa sila sa red alert status karon human sa pagbiya sa bagyong ‘Juan” ug nangandam sa
posibleng pag-abot ni ‘Katring’ sa mosunod nga mga adlaw.
Matud pa ni Ramos nga sa bagyong ‘Juan’, nakapangandam usab sila tungod sa padayong
pagpagawas og updates sa status niini sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and
Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) nga nakatabang usab og daku sa mga lokal
nga opisyal sa pagpangandam.
Kini usab nahimo tungod sa pagpalihok ni President Benigno Aquino III sa nagkalain-laing
ahensya sa kagamhanan sa pagpangandam sa pag-abot sa bagyong Juan.
Dugang pa ni Ramos nga gi alerto nila ang publiko 72 ka oras sa wala pa ni abot ang

A potential cyclone that may become as powerful as super typhoon “Juan” may enter
Philippine territory this weekend, a state weather forecaster said.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)
weather forecaster Mario Palafox said at a press briefing that the potential cyclone is
presently still a low-pressure area (LPA) just outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
He said it is possible the LPA may become a cyclone before it enters Philippine territory
Saturday.
Once the cyclone is inside the Philippine territory, it will be codenamed “Katring.”
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)
reported that the death toll from super typhoon “Juan” (international name: Megi) has risen to
19 as of Thursday morning. (PIA)

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has postponed the Oct. 25 barangay and
Sangguniang Kabataan elections in three Isabela towns severely hit by super typhoon Juan.
The polls in the coastal municipalities of Divilacan, Palanan, and Maconacon will be
rescheduled to next month, Comelec Chairman Jose Melo said after his meeting with the
NDRRMC in Camp Aguinaldo.
Melo did not give a specific date, but said the elections in the three towns would likely be
done within 15 days after the nationwide polls on October 25. Under the law, the poll body is
given 30 days to hold special elections in cases of failure or suspension of polls.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) gave the Comelec a
briefing Wednesday on the aftermath of typhoon Juan in Northern Luzon, particularly Ilocos
region, Cagayan Valley region, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Based on the NDRRMC’s report, Isabela is the most badly hit province in the region. (PIA)

Sa press briefing sa Huwebes sa buntag, ang pangulo sa Pagasa nga si Prisco Nilo ni ingon nga ila nang gi monitor ang bag-ong LPA nga nag sunod sa bagyong ‘Domeng’.

RESCUERS retrieved three more bodies from the sea on Sunday, raising the death toll from tropical storm Basyang (international name: Conson) to 68, but more bad weather was hampering search operations.
Damage to farm, infrastructure and private property rose to P188 million on Sunday from P22.3 million last Friday, according to a report released by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) at 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
Benito T. Ramos, chief of the Office of Civil Defense and executive director of the NDCC said rescuers, including volunteers and troops, continued to scour coastal areas in the country’s southeastern seaboard on Sunday, where the majority of the 84 still missing from a sunken fishing vessel were reported.
However, he said fresh rains brought on by a new weather disturbance east of the main island of Luzon were hampering search and rescue operations. State weather forecasters however said it was unlikely to develop into a full-blown storm.
Basyang slammed into the country on Tuesday, directly hitting the capital Manila as it cut westward into the South China Sea with a ferocity that caught weather forecasters by surprise. (PIA-Bohol)
