DepEd says no to collection of graduation fees

The Department of Education (DepEd) urge all public schools not to collect graduation fees or any contribution for graduation rites. DepEd Secretary Jeslie Lapus once again cited DepEd Order No. 8, series of 2005 enjoining all Public and Private Elementary and Secondary Schools to strictly observe stipulations of the said order.

In the said order, PTA/PTCAs may solicit voluntary contributions from their members for graduation ceremonies and celebrations.

The graduation rites should be conducted in an appropriate solemn ceremony befitting the graduating students and their parents and it should not be a venue for political forum. (aca/PIA)
