DOLE finds PNA ally for NARS

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has found an able ally for the government’s Nurses Assigned in Rural Areas (N.A.R.S.) program.

N.A.R.S. is DOLE’s contribution to the Comprehensive Livelihood And Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo designed to help Filipinos cope with the current global downturn in business, investment, employment and other economic activities.

The Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) said it supports the program which aims to provide employment for registered nurses amidst the global financial slowdown.

Teresita Irigo-Barcelo, PNA national president said they are encouraging interested nurses to participate in the N.A.R.S. program which is a unique employment opportunity and more beneficial to nurses because they will not only be given a stipend of P8,000 a month but they will also undergo a training program developed by the Board of Nursing.
