DSWD releases P26-M emergency assistance in first half of 2009

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended a total of P26,080,509.79, to more than 35,000 individuals and families in crisis situation from January to June this year.

P19.8 million was allotted for construction of housing units for families left homeless by disasters. While P6,190,509.79 was disbursed as financial assistance to needy clients and augmentation to local government units to aid victims of disasters.

On the one hand, the DSWD Crisis Intervention Unit spent P6,190,509.79 for medical, food, burial, transportation, educational assistance, shelter assistance, assistive devices and other emergency needs. Sixty-seven percent or P4,128,109.21 of this amount came from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF). (DSWD)
