October 17-23 is Anti-Poverty Week

The Philippine Government, together with the United Nations, join in its “Stand United, Fight Poverty” (SUFP) Campaign which is slated on October 16-18. This is in observance of the National Week for Overcoming Extreme Poverty (NWOEP).

SUFP is a three-day global mobilization that aims to send a loud and clear message to world leaders and decision-makers to take urgent action to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Further, it hopes to break the Guinness World Record for attaining the largest number of people participating in a single event.

The anti-poverty campaign focuses on four major Millennium Development Goals: eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; achieve universal primary education; improve maternal health; and combat HIV/AIDS. (DSWD)
