One million more Filipinos were employed this July 2009. Currently, the number of employed persons nationwide rose to 35.51 million this month, about a million more of July 2008.
The National Statistics Office (NSO) data showed that the services sector boosted the employment rate as it accounts for about 52 percent of employed persons in July this year. The agriculture and industrial sectors correspondingly accounted for 33.6 percent and 14.8 percent of the country’s employed persons. The industrial sector’s employment share remained unchanged from last year, however. (PIA)
