P10-M budget alang sa BDJ expansion, aprubado na

BOHOL, January 11 (PIA)–Gi-aprobahan na sa Kagamhanang Probinsiyal sa niaging semana ang P10 milyong budget alang sa katukoran sa dugang selda sa mga bilanggoan sa Bohol District Jail (BDJ) sa Barangay Cabawan ning syudad sa Tagbilaran. Sa pakighinabi sa usa ka lokal nga estasyon sa radyo dinhi, gibutyag ni BDJ Warden Jail Chief Insp. Rusylvi Abueva nga ang maong pondo gamiton sa pagpatukod sa dugang 10 ka selda sa mga bilanggoan. Matud pa ni Abueva, gipaabot nga sugdan sa ikatulong kwarter ning tuig ang maong proyekto samtang naghulat pa ang mga opisyal sa pinal nga approval sa desinyo sa maong pasilidad. Giingong ang pagatukorong dugang selda makapasulod og 30 ngadto sa 40 ka binilanggo. Sa pagkakaron, ang populasyon sa BDJ nga adunay 25 ka selda nikabat na sa 895 ka piniriso apan gi-desinyo lamang kini nga makapasulod og 400 ka binilanggo. DTI triples number of Negosyo Centers nationwide to 447

  Hits 200% of target last year The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) significantly expanded and strengthened its support and services to the growing number of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide, tripling the number of Negosyo Centers established across the country from 144 in 2015 to 447 in 2016.   In 2016, DTI hit almost 200% of the 150 target with 298 Negosyo Centers built. Majority of the Centers launched last year covered the period July to December 2016 under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, with 197 centers launched.   DTI also surpassed its set targets for the establishment of Negosyo Centers for two consecutive years. In 2015, DTI established 144 Centers, exceeding the 100 target.     People’s partner   Through Negosyo Centers, DTI assisted a total of 491,314 clients nationwide and conducted over 6,000 seminars for MSMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs. Negosyo Centers also created over 41,000 MSMEs. There were 213,092 clients served from July to November 201 alone. “An entrepreneurial nation is what will give the Philippines a good chance towards economic prosperity. Negosyo Centers are people’s partners towards inclusive growth. This is part of the government’s commitment to encourage entrepreneurship among ordinary Filipinos,” said DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez.   As infrastructures of entrepreneurship, Negosyo Centers provide efficient services to MSMEs across the archipelago, including through provision of business mentoring services, information on market and access to money. DTI to stage the ‘7Ms’ in ASEAN

In support of an “Inclusive, Innovation-led Growth” for a strong ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the Philippines, through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is conducting today the ASEAN 2017 MSME Development Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Manila, the Philippines. The Summit will place the interests of MSMEs at the center of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) agenda and putting together the MSME advocates, mentors, enablers and business experts from the ASEAN region who can help develop, handhold, and empower the MSMEs and spread the economic fruits of the AEC dream. With the theme, “The 7Ms Towards Shared Prosperity in ASEAN,” the DTI aims to gather insights from thought leaders and experts addressing the 7Ms that sum up the elements of the approach and framework for enabling and fostering the MSMEs. “Through the 7Ms, we’ll empower the MSMEs so they can also share in the benefits of the ongoing economic growth, and improve the quality of their lives by engaging in vibrant entrepreneurial activities,” said DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez. Gov’t frees P500M road safety fund for engines conversion

THE government is letting loose P500M from the road safety tax to be lent to transport cooperatives all over the country. Presidential Management Chief Hermogenes Esperon bared this during a press conference in Panglao two weeks ago. The fund, which can be used to help drivers switch their engines to liquefied petroleum gas is a government move to slowly shake off from heavy dependence on imported oil amidst the unpredictable price of oil in the global markets. He said even Bohol transport groups can avail of such fund if only to initiate the switch here. Esperon, who was then the Armed Forces Chief said the programmed switch to LPG is also in line with the government’s policy on cleaner energy use to mitigate the effects of climate change....

Central Visayas creates integrated reg’l livelihood, employment center

For the benefit of the displaced workers, both domestic and overseas, Central Visayas has created its first Integrated regional livelihood and employment center. Executive Order 783, issued by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, calls for government agencies to consolidate their respective livelihood programs into a ‘one-stop-shop’ by creating an Integrated Regional Program Office at all regional centers in the country. These centers shall provide for employment intervention to save and create jobs as part of the country’s economic resiliency plan. They shall also support the micro-enterprises and self-employment, including livelihood programs. RDC-7 resolution # 13 recommends to adopt the ‘One-Cebu Employment Action Center’ (OCEAC) as the Integrated Regional Livelihood Program Office for Central Visayas and enjoins the other provinces of Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor. Catigbian gets P1.2M tractor fund from DA

CATIGBIAN gets P1.2M representing 50% of the funds for its priority plan to purchase a tractor from the Department of Agriculture (DA). Mayor Roberto Salinas, representing Catigbian received the check from DA Regional Director Ricardo Oblena, during the Agri-trade Fair two weeks ago. Salinas, who has been envisioning highly agricultural town Catigbian as a green haven for peace and development was so elated during the fund turn-over witnessed by Catigbianons and Bohol farmers who turned out for the fair. Salinas also said the town would be putting up the other 50% of the amount to be able to purchase the tractor and hopefully start a government based mechanized farm tilling industry as a complement to the locally owned tractors which are for rent to farmers needing mechanized support in their fields....

Panglao beachfront clearing now stalled

CLEARING of the public access areas in Panglao beachfronts has been stalled, reports Mayor Benedicto Alcala in a radio interview. Alcala who said he has temporarily stopped issuing business permits to resorts intruding in the 20 meter public access zones also bemoaned that a temporary restraining order issued to stop the demolition of structures has now become “permanent”. Tourists and local observers have hailed the clearing the 20-meter public access zones by Panglao local government noting that the move has restored order and cleanliness in the beachfronts. Some resorts owners however were able to secure court orders to stop the LGU from the demolition and while the TRO was for 20 days, some interpreted it as effective with the pendency of cases filed against Mayor Alcala. Alcala also admitted that the Governor’s Office know about the stalled implementation and through the Provincial Legal Office, advised that the LGU would just have to await for the resolution of the case....
