TAGBILARAN CITY, December 21 (PIA)–Sa dili pa moabot ang Pasko, mapahimoslan na sa mga persons with disability ang ilang exemption sa value added tax (VAT). Matud pa ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Kalihim Judy Taguiwalo, namantala na sa mga pahayagan ang implementing rules and regulations sa Republic Act 10754 nga maghatag og exemption sa mga PWDs sa VAT. Ubos sa RA 10754, exempted ang mga PWDs sa 12-porsiyentong VAT sa land transportation, domestic air ug sea travel, mga bayronon sa medical ug dental services apil na ang diagnostic ug laboratory fees, ug professional fees sa mga doktor. Dakong tabang usab kini sa galastohon sa mga PWDs sa mga gipalit nga tambal. Magamit usab sa mga adunay kakulian sa panglawas ang VAT exemption sa funeral ug burial services, sa serbisyo ug produkto sa mga hotel, rastaurants, sinehan, concert halls ug uban pa. Ang maong balaod gawas pa sa 20-porsiyentong diskuwento nga gipahimoslan na karon sa mga adunay kakulian sa panglawas nga nakalatid sa “Magna Carta for Persons with Disability”. DTI-CIAP gears towards a more competent construction industry workforce with stronger and more holistic HRD programs
The Department of Trade and Industry-Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (DTI-CIAP) thru its human resource development arm; the Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) will be launching the Enhanced Construction Managers’ Training and Certification Program (ECOMTCP) within 2017 to lead infrastructure developments in the Philippines with capable project managers. ECOMTCP is the enriched product of industry-led application of lessons from the former COMPTCP, which is CMDF’s pilot program to assure that competent project managers will handle huge and complex projects in construction. ECOMTCP, which is projected to begin pilot run on the 3rd quarter of 2017 will be more acceptable and align itself with Philippine education standards. The goal of the program is to guarantee the competency of project managers by introducing rigorous assessment mechanism and added incentives like earning CPD units, additional credit points for PCAB Contractor’s License, and harmonized requirements to ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer. CMDF is working with DPWH to endorse 43 graduates of DPWH’S Project Managers Course for certification to ECOMTCP. The program is the practical answer to the growing demand for competent and certified construction project managers. ECOMTCP shows the government’s drive to fully support the projected growth of the construction industry by advocating for competent and globally competitive Filipino workforce. 25 town mayors, who converted to the NP (Nacionalista Party) recently, swore in back as Lakas-Kampi members before provincial political stalwart Gov. Erico Aumentado. With the new political somersault – resulting from the Governor’s loyalty check – the Lakas-Kampi’s near party-monolith is back in place. Now the dominant administration party controls 38 of 47 municipal mayors and 12 of the 13 provincial board members. Of course Gov. Aumentado, Vice-Gov. Julius Herrera and the three congressmen Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes and Adam Jala all belong to the administration bloc. Eyebrows were raised when suddenly 25 mayors took their oaths of allegiance Sunday before NP president and former senate president Manny Villar while the Governor literally turned his back as he left for an official trip to Korea with President Gloria M. Arroyo. In a random survey conducted by Station DYRD’s “Radyo Merkado” program, 87.5% said “it would be impossible for the mayors to take their oath to Manny Villar’s NP without the knowledge of Gov. Aumentado whose leadership is respected by the Lakas-Kampi mayors. But Gov. Aumentado was emphatic during the meeting that the administration coalition here is critical because through that, the province can easily access several programs and projects from the national government. SOME 150 President Gloria Scholarship Coupons (PGSC) for technical vocational courses were given Friday as the country celebrates the 111th Independence Day with a highlight on the country-wide “Kalayaan 2009 Mega Jobs Fair” The awarding of the scholarship certificates happened during the flag raising ceremonies and Independence Day program here attended by about a little more than a thousand as part of the government’s efforts to spur jobs and keep Filipinos above water in this time of economic crisis. Technical Educations and Skills Development Authority Provincial Director Francisca Opog presented the beneficiaries to Governor Erico Aumentado and the Boholanos a few minutes before Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO) also opened its jobs fair at the second floor of the Capitol. The scholarship coupons allow job seekers some more job skill competencies through the TESDA trainings, says agency information Officer Jaminel Damolo, during a casual talk. Damolo shared that Bohol still has about 856 scholarship slots and even with the 150 awardees, TESDA still has to award some more scholars soon. TESDA started with 2273 scholars, some 1477 have already graduated and while some are already working, others are still hoping to land jobs soon. “The activity is part of the President’s economic resiliency program where the beneficiaries are expected to land future jobs and boost their spending power,” he said. While Bohol was not part of the 19 cities nationwide where the “Kalayaan 2009 Mega Job Fair” was simultaneously held, BEPO Head Romulo Tagaan bared that Capitol also initiated its move for local and international job seekers to tap and match skills with vacancies.
