Philippine civil service turns 109 this September

The Philippine Civil Service turns 109 this September, with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) leading the nationwide celebration.

This year’s theme is “Honoring our Heroes in Republic Service – Responsive, Ethical Public Servants with Vision, Impact, Commitment and Excellence.”

In his anniversary message for the bureaucracy, CSC Chair Ricardo L. Saludo said, “We in government serve not just the public but the Republic, and if we serve as responsive, ethical public servants with vision, impact, commitment and excellence, we honor our heroes by living their examples.”

Highlight of activities for the anniversary month is the awarding of Outstanding Public Servants of 2009 on September 17 at the Malacañang Palace.

A summary of the theme’s significance and the complete and detailed list of activities for the 109th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration are contained in CSC Memorandum Circular No. 27, series of 2009 which can be viewed and downloaded from the CSC website at www.csc.gov.ph. (CSC/PIA)
