PNP to enforce prohibition vs alcohol, videoke in cemeteries during All Saints and All Souls Day

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Jesus A. Versoza issued a Letter of Instruction (LOI) 68/09 to all police regional offices prescribing the operational guidelines on security coverage, public safety measures, contingency plans, and other support services to be provided by the police during the observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day. This is in anticipation to the surge of heavy crowds in the different cemeteries throughout the country.

Consistent with existing laws and local ordinances, prohibited in public cemeteries and memorial parks include drinking of alcohol, videoke or playing loud music, gambling, drugs, and carrying of firearms, explosives and deadly weapons, the LOI stated.

The entire police are placed on heightened alert to ensure the availability of police units and personnel to perform police duties and respond to contingencies. (PIA)
