Puno said the DILG hopes to reduce the number of unregistered guns by 50 percent when Executive Order 817 or the national gun control program takes effect from October 1 to 31 this year.
Police units nationwide, however, will start ahead of the implementing date by processing applications for loose firearms including renewal of expired licenses on August 1 to allow the PNP sufficient time to accommodate gun holders. (PIA)
