DUHA ka grupo sa mga mangingisda nga managsamang nigamit og ilegal nga pamaagi sa pagpanagat ang gidakop sa Task Force Kalikasan ug fish warden didto sa lungsod sa Pres. Carlos Garcia niadtong Lunes sa gabii ug kagahapon sa sayong kabuntagon.

Unang nadakpan nailhan nga sila si Boyet Gavas, 31, minyo; Santos Dabatos, 29, minyo; Nesio Fernan, 20, ulitawo ug Roy Mendoza, 19, ulitawo kinsa pulos taga-barangay Gaus sa maong lungsod.

Samtang ang ikaduhang grupo nailhan nga sila si Jason bayot, 27, minyo; Jerome Angoo, 29, minyo; Rey Tutor, 40, minyo ug Booby Curimo, 37, minyo pulos nagpuyo sa barangay Cuya, Ubay, Bohol.

Sa taho sa kapulisan nga samtang ang maong task force nihimo og seaborne patrol sa kadagatan ilang nasigpatan ang unang grupo pasado alas 11 sa gabii nga nigamit og usa ka compressor sa pagpangisda duol sa fish sanctuary didto sa barangay Aguihing sa maong lungsod.

Nabawi gikan sa unang grupo ang usa ka pumpboat kolor puti nga may 16 HP Briggs and Stratton nga makina, usa ka compressor nga may paraphernalia, lima ka pana ug upat ka goggle.

Samtang ang ikaduhang grupo nasigpatan mga 1:30 sa kabuntagon nga nigamit usab sa samang paagi.

Nakuha gikan kanila mao ang usa ka pumpboat nga may 16 HP Briggs and Stratton nga makina, usa ka compressor nga may tapot nga paraphernalia, duha ka pana, 2 ka goggle ug duha ka kilo sa managlahing klase sa isda.

Campaign against illegal fishers will be met with strong commitment by League of Municipalities Phils. – Bohol Chapter

The mayors of coastal towns here in Bohol will hold a meeting in regards to stopping illegal fishing in their vicinity. This meeting will be done to disprove the belief that mayors of coastal towns are not sincere in implementing the marine laws and are even in league with the big-time commercial fishers.

The President for League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Bohol Chapter, Jagna Mayor Exuperio C. Lloren, confirmed that there is a need for cooperation to stop illegal fishing. The organization aforementioned are alarmed that even though Bohol supplies 95 % of fish in the Central Visayas, according to the Bureau of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources and the Department of Agriculture, the price of fish still continue to increase.

The price increase is due to scarce supply here in the province since big-time commercial fishers sell their daily fish to our neighboring provinces, thus causing small time fishers for small catch.

Illegal fishing will be hard to stop since there are still other problems like lacking coastal law enforcers, no watchers, and lacking patrol boats.
