MALACANANG cited the increasing trust and confidence of the Filipinos on the accountability, competence and efficiency of President Benigno S. Aquino III in pursuing his social contract with the people especially in his efforts in effecting reforms and curbing graft and corruption in the bureaucracy as indicated in the recent survey conducted by a recognized polls entity.
In his statement during a regular press briefing at the Palace on Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that the results of the Pulse Asia “Ulat ng Bayan” survey conducted from August 20 to September 2, 2011 exemplifies the undying support and
confidence of the people on the leadership of President Aquino.
“The recently-released Pulse Asia Ulat ng Bayan survey, in which President Aquino recorded significant increases in his approval (from 71 to 77 percentage points) and trust ratings (from 71 to 75 percentage points), is an affirmation that more than a year into the current administration, the people’s faith in their leadership has not wavered, and has in fact become stronger,” Lacierda said.
“The message is getting across to the vast majority of Filipinos: President Aquino’s ratings are proof that his efforts toward curbing corruption and reducing poverty are truly being felt by Filipinos across all geographic and demographic strata,” he added.
Lacierda noted that with these recent developments, the Aquino government is bent on continuing its efforts to exert more developmental actions that will further uplift the lives of the Filipino citizenry.
“It is expected that survey numbers will fluctuate, and while we in government appreciate this development, we continue to raise the bar higher for ourselves so that every aspect of the President’s Social Contract with the Filipino People will be fulfilled,” Lacierda stressed.
Pulse Asia recently released the results of their Presidential Performance and Trust Ratings survey conducted from August 20 to September 2, 2011 using face-to-face interviews.
The nationwide assessment is based on a sample of 1,200 representative adults, 18 years old and above. It has a ± 3% error margin at the 95% confidence level. sub-national estimates for each of the geographic areas covered in the survey (i.e., Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) have a ± 6% error margin, also at 95% confidence level.

Manila, Philippines — A recent survey by Pulse Asia revealed that 80% of Filipinos expressed trust in P-noy while almost the same percentage were satisfied with his performance during his first three months in office. Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan Survey conducted from Oct. 20 to 29, found 79 percent of adult Filipinos approve of his performance and 80 percent of the respondents expressing trust in him.
According to Pulse Asia, the highest figures were recorded from the poorest Class E.
When asked to comment about the decline in his ratings, the President said that having skeptics and critics is just a part of his job, apart from the fact that he cannot please everybody all the time. He also partly attributed the decline to the Aug. 23 hostage crisis.
Aquino vowed that he will continue to work even more “to ensure that the numbers will grow.”
But he clarified that he is not after popularity surveys.
“Not because I’m chasing numbers but rather, I think, I’ve just been given new directions that what I am doing is on the right track and therefore we should accelerate the growth.”

A case of Kamag-anak Incorporated is now tagged behind the positive surveys showing Presidential candidate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino leading the race.
Kamag-anak incorporated was a taunt referring to former president Corazon Aquino’s advisers and relatives occupying key government positions.
According to Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) senatorial candidate Francisco Kit Tatad in reports, relatives and close associates of Liberal Party (LP) presidential candidate “Noynoy” Aquino are directing behind the scenes the surveys being conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) and Pulse Asia.
Philippine Star bared that Tatad cited research paper and documents from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), showing members of the Aquino clan and former associates of the late President Corazon Aquino as directors and stockholders of SWS and Pulse Asia.
Among those named in the SEC documents and research papers were Rafael Cojuangco Lopa and Antonio “Tonyboy” Cojuangco.
Lopa was director and president of Pulse Asia until last year when he resigned to camouflage the firm’s support for Aquino’s bid for the presidency. Cojuangco on the other hand bankrolled the setting up of Pulse Asia in 1990.
Tatad also said it is unusual that former Public Works secretary Jose de Jesus (under the Aquino administration) is an incorporator and director in both Pulse Asia and the SWS.
“This suggests that there was a plan from the beginning by the Aquinos to control public opinion polling in the country,” Tatad said.

Manila, Philippines– Deposed president Joseph “Erap” Estrada and Sen. Manuel “Manny” Villar are now tied for second place in the presidential race as Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III extended his lead by almost 20 points.
Despite having a double-digit margin, Aquino has expressed that he would still not be overconfident because the “ghost of Garci” continues to haunt the current elections.
Given a potential lead of eight million votes, which he considered a “significant advantage,” Aquino said only a failure of elections could thwart his imminent victory.
Meanwhile, Estrada is mighty pleased with himself because of the result of the Pulse Asia Survey. “As I told you, I will give them the surprise of their lives,” estrada said, referring to his previous interviews in which he said he would expect to peak surveys just before Election Day and win.
Asked if the game was already between him and Aquino, Estrada said: “Ah, yeah. Even my running mate. It’s no longer Mar-Loren (Aquino’s running mate Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and his rival Villar’s running mate Loren Legarda). It’s already Mar versus (Estrada running mate Makati) Mayor (Jejomar) Binay,” the PMP standard-bearer said.
