The Philippines and Indonesia are issued a Tsunami Alert following a 7.6 Magnitude Earthquake centered off the east coast, 91 miles (146 km) off the town of Guiuan in Samar province at a depth of about 20 miles (32 km), the U.S. Geological Survey said. The earthquake was felt around 9PM and lasted for a few minutes.
In Bohol, the earthquake was felt with more intensity in the northern towns of Talibon, Trinidad and Ubay being the towns in Bohol nearest to the epicenter. In Tagbilaran City, the intensity was mild but strong enough to be felt even at the ground level. Some residents evacuated their homes during the quake and some parents in Cadre Heights, Dampas District seen carrying sleeping children.
Residents in coastal areas are advised to seek higher ground due to the possibility of a tsunami.
