Veterans given until February 16 to file claims

Roxas City (9 January) – Veterans are given only until February 16th of this year to apply for the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation (FVEC). This program is for the benefit of eligible WWII veterans, and is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 or the Economic Stimulus Bill signed by US President Barack Obama.

Widows of the veterans may also apply, and Filipinos who think they are eligible for such program are encouraged to apply immediately.
As of December 29, USDVA has approved the applications of more than 11,300 eligible Filipino WWII veterans or their widows; these qualified veterans and widows have been paid a total of nearly P6.4 billion.

The application process is free and simple, and there is no need to pay anyone to assist in completing the form, which can be mailed to the U.S. Embassy.
