Usa ka balaodnon karon ang giduso sa Department of Finance nagdto sa duka ka balay balaoranan aron himoon sa mga magbabalaod ang pag-usab sa RA 9334 o ang excise tax law.

Bisan sa hangyo sa TRO : Kontrata sa Comelec-Smartmatic gilagdaan

Central Visayas declares total war against illegal drugs

A ‘Total-All-Out’ war against illegal drugs was declared by the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-7). This was contained in the RPOC-7 resolution 2009-01 and was in response to a DILG memorandum circular that that called on all provincial governors, city & municipal mayors, Punong Barangays, and Sanggunian at all levels, for a unified action against illegal drugs and other substances.

PDEA-7 regional director, Randy Pedroso said that of the 3,003 barangays in Central Visayas, 671 barangays have been affected by the drug problem. Bohol has 256 drug affected barangays and 80 of them have already been cleared.

As law enforcers in the region intensified their anti-drug campaign through joint operations, Pedroso reported that from January-June 2009, they had seized a total of 383.58 grams of Shabu and some 676 pieces of assorted drug paraphernalia.

The PDEA-7 also said that it has also confiscated more than 1,219 grams of marijuana dried leaves; uprooted and burned 40,855 marijuana plants in the hinterlands of Balamban; and seized other illegal drugs such as rugby, marijuana sticks, cigarettes and bricks with an estimated cost of more than P9.3Million. Cebu and Bohol are insurgency-free, says AFP

“Cebu and Bohol as insurgency-free!” This was the statement of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) through the Central Command in the Visayas.

They are now ready for the hand over of its Internal Security Operation (ISO) to these local government units, as said by the 802nd Infantry Brigade. In a security situation updates, the 802nd Infantry Brigade said that it is already preparing for the Visayas Internal Security Operation transition.

The report further showed that insurgency threat and strength in Cebu and Bohol had been neutralized to 38 persons who are operating as its political front while armed strength has been reduced to 12.

The CENTCOM report further showed that 56 communists terrorists from Cebu and Bohol surrendered and one (1) was arrested in Bohol for the period March 26 to July 8, 2009.

CENTCOM Chief, Gen. Isagani Cachuela said that the LGUs and their instrumentalities are key factors to these favorable developments.

He said, ISO transition includes the turn over of the primary role of LGUs in development thru the convergence of basic services and livelihood in areas that had been considered affected, threatened and are now cleared of insurgents. (PIA-7)

COMSTE holds Sept 3-4 forum on renewable energy

The Congressional Commission on Science and Technology, and Engineering (COMSTE) will hold a forum on renewable energy this coming September 3-4, 2009 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, Pasay City. The forum aims to discuss prospects in carbon financing and other renewable energy technologies and support systems, in line with the Renewable Energy Act.

The Act creates an innovative leverage for the Philippines to establish and enhance a domestic clean energy industry affecting other critical areas of development in science and technology.

The forum’s objectives are:

  • To banner enterprise ideas and investment opportunities in renewable energy, and stimulate investor interest in RE in order to propagate clean development mechanisms, resource-efficient and low-carbon production patterns;
  • To have industries better appreciate renewable energies and the economic opportunities arising from these, with the view of enabling them to secure a share in the market for renewable energies and the opportunities it gives for wealth creation;
  • To set initiatives for the creation of a cooperating network of R&D organizations for renewable energy in the Philippines through public-private partnerships;
  • To formulate private and non-government sector recommendations to the Manila ministerial conference on renewable energies; and
  • To pave the way for the establishment of an ASEAN-wide network for renewable energy. (PIA)
