Kahinumduman nga gilagdaan ni Presidente Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang balaodnon sa Cheaper Medicines Law, apan kasamtangan pang natanggong sa Kongreso. (PIA)

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) implements the Oplan Kandado against tax evaders. The Oplan Kandado was instituted pursuant to Section 115 of the National Internal Revenue Code and Revenue Memorandum Order (RMO) Number 3-2009, as an initiative involving the strengthening of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) imposition of prescribed administrative sanctions for non-compliance with such essential requirements.
In the case of a Value-Added Tax (VAT)-registered person, failure to issue receipts or invoices; likewise, failure to file a VAT return as required, or understatement of taxable sales or receipts by 30% or more of his correct taxable sales or receipts for the taxable quarter, and failure of any person to register as required and payment of the correct amount of taxes as mandated by norms and standards of their particular industry or line of business, such cases are subject to the memo.
According to law, the Commissioner or his authorized representative is empowered to suspend the business operations and temporarily close the business establishment of any person for any of the violations. (PIA)

resident Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s scheduled visit to the United States on July 30, brings brand new optimism for more strengthened US–RP alliance. This will be a good opportunity for President Arroyo to discuss with US President Obama the country’s poverty alleviation program and economic resiliency plan.
During their meeting, there will be discussions on ways to enhance cooperation between their countries on a variety of issues including counter-terrorism, climate change and the alliance between the U.S. and the Philippines.
Remonde said the President will also discuss the Arroyo administration’s anti-poverty programs and the P330-billion Economic Resiliency Plan.
While in Washington, the President will also meet with members of Congress and other key US officials, private sector partners and business groups. (PIA)

THE Bohol Sandugo Foundation Incorporated said this year’s street dancing competition brings out the best of nine contending dance contingents.
According to Street Dancing Committee Chair Carmen Gatal, the participants are Balilihan, Baclayon, Corella, 2 danging contingents from Catigbian, Maribojoc, Trinidad, Tubigon and Tagbilaran City.
Immaculate Mary Academy and Catigbian National High School represents Catigbian town while Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School represents Tagbilaran.
In the competition, top 3 winning contingents would each get P200T, P150T and P100T and trophies, while minor awards are also reportedly at stake. (PIA)

ACTING Governor Julius Caesar Herrera handed in the P600T seed money for Danao, Bohol’s eco-lodge project during the formal launching of the town’s latest extreme eco-adventures last week.
The assistance, from the provincial Government of Bohol would be used to help start the eco-tourism lodge that would accommodate the fast influx of extreme tourism adventurists in this town 72 kilometers from Tagbilaran City.
At the capsule laying of the project, Herrera said the assistance should help Danao in its dream to be established as the center of eco-tourism activity in that part of Bohol.
Danao Mayor Thomas Louis Gonzaga, according reports was elated with the help adding that the financial help goes a long way to help his people get better lives.
So far, the eco-adventure tourism development in Danao has spurred livelihood opportunities and allowed farmers to better sell their products to tourists and tourism service providers. (PIA)
