A local campaign to remove EVAT on fuel products

Bayan Bohol spearheads the drive to scrap EVAT on gas and electricity. A signature campaign seeking the removal of the 12% value added tax ( VAT) on petroleum products and power will be launched in the province of Bohol by militant groups. Bayan with its allied organizations from drivers, women, and the students sectors are strongly campaigning for the 12% value added tax to be removed on fuel products and electricity.

Prices of fuel hits over P60 per liter effective Saturday, while several bills on the suspension and removal of VAT on fuel and electricity remain pending in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Two Senate Bills are still pending, SB 1962 filed by Senator Mar Roxas suspending the imposition of the oil VAT for six months and SB 1977 of Senator Miguel Zubiri, which offers to exempt petroleum products and electricity from taxes.
