GIPALUBAD ni Gob. Erico Aumentado ang panginahangalng itugyan na sa nasudnong kagamhanan ang ubang parte sa Bohol Circumferential Road Improvement Project 3 aron mamahimo na kining gastogan sa Economic Development Cooperation Fund sa South Korea.

Kini samtang napulo ka imprastraktura alang sa turismo ug agrikultura ang gipasupot sa tigum sa Provincial Development Council Executive Committee sa milabayng semana.

Lakip na niini ang pagpalapad, pagpahiuli ug pagpalig-on sa kadalanan ug tulay nga naapil sa Tourism Road Improvement Project (TRIP) mga farm to market roads nga magsuporta sa nasudnong agenda alang sa pagpakunhod sa kawad-on, ekonomikanhong pag-uswag ug pagpangandam alang sa katalagman. (PIA)

Ombuds suspends NIA top executive

The Ombudsman has released another decision on the charges of alleged anomalies in the construction of a multi-million irrigation project in Talibon town.

The decision,still cleared five officials of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) but meted a one-month suspension against Provincial Irrigation Officer Engr. Calixto Seroje.

This resolution was however similar in content of the decision released in November last year. The 25-page resolution, signed by Deputy Ombudsman Orlando Casimiro on November 11, 2008 but released only recently, dismissed the charges “for lack of substantial legal basis.”

Seroje is likewise warned by the Ombudsman that a repetition of a similar infraction in the future “shall be dealt with more severely”.

Also cleared were NIA regional manager Alexander Reuyan, NIA regional finance manager Jesusa Sibonga, small reservoir irrigation project officer Eduardo Daniel and senior accountant Victor Echavez.

The case stemmed from a complaint filed on October 27, 2004, at the Ombudsman by the Boholanos Against Corruption, Oppression and Social Harassment (Bacos), which said P165 million had been released for the Talibon Small Reservoir Impounding Project (SRIP) although only half of it was completed.

Manny Pacquiao, now an adopted son of Boholanos

This after the Bohol Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), and the Bohol chapters of the League of Municipalities (LMP), Vice Mayors (VMLP) and Barangays (LnB) passed a joint resolution declaring Manny Pacquiao an adopted son of the province.

Pacquiao, together with his family, were in Bohol for a vacation. Though it was cut short when Pacquiao left en route to New York to receive the 2008 ‘Fighter of the Year’ award from the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA).

If his hectic schedule will still allow it, a source close to Pacquiao said he may be back on Tuesday for one week more of vacation to experience Bohol’s powdery fine white sand beaches and other sites. He will be presented with the joint resolution then.

Forbes Magazine has placed Pacquiao in the 6th position among the world’s 10 highest paid athletes and berthed him also among the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities in the World for his spectator-drawing capacity and his legendary influence on the people of the world, especially the Philippines where during all his fights, complete peace and order reigned in the land even in areas infested by rebels and Abu Sayyaf members because all eyes are glued to his fights via TV and the other high-tech media used for the purpose.

Time Magazine also lists him among the most influential people of the world.
