ArtsWork Cebu application extended
Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) Culture & Heritage and the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU)-School of Humanities announces the extension of submission of application requirements for the annual Ateneo Arts Workshop Cebu (ArtsWork Cebu) until Jan. 31.
RAFI and AdMU-School of Humanities will hold this year’s ArtsWork Cebu on April 22 to 26 at Casa Gorordo Museum, Cebu City.
The five-day activity is an opportunity for high school students from Cebu to participate in any of the three art workshops: a) Creative Writing: The Literary Essay; b) Theatre Arts: Basic Acting and Stage Performance; and c) Visual Arts: Introduction to Drawing and Painting. Lecturers from AdMu will facilitate the workshops.
Facilitators of the workshops are Martin Villanueva, a two-time Palanca Awardee and coordinator of AdMu’s Creative Writing Program; Laura Cabochan, a young theatre actress and moderator of the Ateneo Blue Repertory; and Jason Moss, a contemporary visual artist and a lecturer for the Industrial Design program at AdMU.
Since 2010, young artists from both private and public high schools have joined the workshops. Its aim is to make the participants discover their artistic potential and develop self-confidence.
A minimal fee of PhP 500 serves as registration fee. The fee will be collected on the first day of the workshop. Application requirements include a filled-out application form; a letter of recommendation from the principal, which states the applicant’s artistic ability, character, leadership skills, and academic standing; and a sample of the student’s artistic work (for Creative Writing and Visual Arts).
Applicants can get a copy of the ArtsWork Cebu 2013 application form and a sample recommendation letter from their school principal or director. The organizers sent copies to over 40 schools in Metro Cebu and key cities in Central Visayas.
The requirements can be sent to Casa Gorordo Museum c/o Maybellane Sanchez, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), 35 Lopez Jaena Street, Cebu City.
The collaboration between RAFI and AdMU-School of Humanities is based on a shared mission that educating the next generation about the arts and fostering their creative ideas is essential for nation building.

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Dec. 21 (PIA)–Sugdan na karong adlawa sa Department of Health (DOH) ang pag-monitor sa firecracker-related incidents kalabot sa pagsaulog sa Pasko ug pagsugat sa Bag-ong Tuig.
Kahinumdoman nga gibanhaw sa DOH ang Oplan “APIR”o “Aksyon: Paputok Injury Reduction” aron mapakunhod ang gidaghanon sa mga maigo sa paboto matag holiday season.
Matud pa ni Health Secretary Enrique Ona, mo-sentro ang kampanya sa mga bata nga naa sa edad 6 hangtud 10 anyos, tungod kay base sa statistics niadtong 2011 nakapatala og 274 nga bata nga mga biktima sa paboto.

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Oct. 11 (PIA)–Mahimo nang susihon pinaagi sa Internet ang registration status sa usa ka botante.
Sa opisyal nga Twitter account ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes, gipa-ambit niini ang site nga http://www.comelec.gov.ph/?r=precinct_finder diin mahibaw-an dayon ang polling center, precinct number ug uban pang impormasyon kalabot sa voter’s registration.
Gipahinumdom usab ni Brillantes nga deactivated na ang voter’s registration sa mga botanteng wala nakabotar og duha ka sunod-sunod nga eleksyon.
Kini nagpasabot nga kinahanglang i-reactivate sa mga wala nakabotar niadtong Mayo 10, 2010 ug Oktubre 25, 2010 elections ang ilang status aron makabotar sa 2013.
Gibalik usab og pahinumdom sa Comelec nga hangtud Oktubre 31 lang ang voter’s registration ug dili na kini lugwayan pa.
“There will be NO EXTENSION after October 31, 2012 as we already need to finalize the number of ballots to be printed, among others. Oct. 31, 2012 is also the deadline for transfer of registration, validation of registration & reactivation of deactivated registration.”

PRESIDENT Benigno S. Aquino III has declared November 11 to 17, 2012 as “Electrical Engineering Week” to underscore the need to focus national attention on the importance of the electrical engineering profession.
The Chief Executive issued the declaration by virtue of Proclamation No. 419 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on July 4.
The proclamation aims to highlight the role of the electrical engineering profession in nation-building.
The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE), will hold its 37th Annual National Convention on November 14-17, 2012 at the SMX Convention Center, Seashell Lane, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
The theme for this year’s gathering of electrical engineers is “Engineering a Safe and Better Nation Through Excellence in Electrical Profession.”
The IIEE is the organization of electrical practitioners and the only accredited professional organization (APO) of electrical practitioners by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Founded in 1975, the organization now has 23,000 members. (PCOO)
