Gov. Edgar Chatto and Panglao Mayor Nila Montero led discussions on Panglao Tourism and other tourism related regulation activities .
Along with heads of national agencies DOT, Marina, Philippine Navy, and Philippine Coast Guard; topics included registration of boats, data on tourism arrivals, 20m salvage zone, street lighting, cleanliness, diving, establishment of docking areas for boats, among others. Panglao is also consulting stakeholders for the crafting of its tourism master plan in conjunction with existing master plans in the province.
The island remains Bohol’s tourism jewel and is expected to be ready for influx of more tourists as soon as the New Bohol Airport is completed.
The Provincial Government and the municipal local government seek to ensure that Panglao sustains its development in the tourism industry while managing environment and marine biodiversity.
Panglao is also set to host upcoming big international ICT events: Geeks on a Beach and Open Collaboration of East Asia Nations (OCEANS) 16.

Gov. Edgar Chatto met with Nestor Pestelos on the proposed community-based approach to illegal drugs demand reduction and recovery. Pestelos introduced to the governor drug addiction professional Miriam Cue, also a Bol-anon from Baclayon.
Cue, chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Psychology, along with Jerry Joseph Valderama from the New Day Recovery Center in Davao also met with the Technical Working Group of the Provincial Government to discuss how the proposed strategy will be integrated into the comprehensive anti-illegal drug campaign.
Bohol currently holds the highest record of surrenderers in the anti-illegal drug campaign in the region and among most immediate provincial local government initiatives to ensure recovery of surrenderers are the establishment of a Center for Drug Education and Counseling, a bootcamp, and the establishment of a drug rehabilitation center alongside national government plans to make use of AFP facilities in the management and reintegration of surrenderers.
