DOLE: may nagpaabot nga job opportunities sa mga OFWs

MANILA, Oct. 16 (PIA)–Giseguro sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) nga may nagpaabot nga trabaho alang sa mga overseas Filipino workers nga mamaule gikan sa West Africa tungod sa padayon nga hulga sa Ebola virus.
Matud pa ni kalihim Rosalinda Baldoz, may giandam nang job opportunities ang ilang buhatan alang sa naa sa duha ka libong OFWs nga mamaule gikan sa West Africa.
Gipasabot sa kalihim nga gimanduan na ang Philippine Ovearseas Employment Administration (POEA) sa pagtino sa uban pang mga nasud nga mahimong trabahuan sa mga OFWs.
Kadaghanan sa mga Pilipino sa Liberia, Guinea ug Sierra Leone mga inhenyero ug mga propesyonal nga nagtrabaho sa mga construction industry.

The provincial government of Bohol is inviting all Boholanos to the commemorative activities on October 15, 2014 in various venues as outlined in the program of activities at the webpage http://www.bohol.gov.ph/index.php??=boholEarthquakeMemorial .
Last year, just past 8:00AM, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Bohol with epicenter at Sagbayan, Bohol. The geological event damaged several critical infrastructure like bridges, roads and buildings. The damaged bridges isolated some towns like Maribojoc, Loon and Antequera from Tagbilaran and Tubigon making delivery of relief goods very difficult. Reconstruction efforts and restoration of utility services were also a challenge for all sectors involved.
Several centuries old churches were also badly or completely damaged, including UNESCO listed Baclayon and Loboc churches. These two churches are in danger of being delisted from the from UNESCO’s nomination to the World Heritage Sites.
The commemoration activities will include a tolling of bells on October 15, 2014 at 8:12AM for 33 seconds. There will also be an Inauguration of an Art Exhibit and a motorcade to the proposed memorial shrine.

Techtalks.PH Tagbilaran hosted the 1st Ideaspace Technopreneur Bootcamp in Bohol help on September 29, 2014 at the JJ’s Seafood Village. The bootcamp was funded and facilitated by Ideaspace. It was participated by close to a hundred participants representing local universities and colleges, employees of tech companies in Bohol, free lancers and young professionals.
Ideaspace is a non-profit organization that runs an incubator program to support science and technology entrepreneurs. Techtalks.ph – Tagbilaran is a group of technology enthusiasts in Tagbilaran City who are passionate about startup events in Bohol.
Roy Bayonas, owner of Printbit, a local technology firm that provides printing services, talked about his journey as an entrepreneur and the lesson of never giving up.
Goldy Yancha, community development associate of Ideaspace Foundation talked about the opportunities available for startups with viable ideas. Ideaspace holds competitions among startups and provides financial as well as technical and business support to help startups succeed with their ideas.
Chino Atillano, founder of Timefree Innovations, talked about his startup journey and the lessons he learned along the way.
Dr. Rene Catan, foundeer of Arthrologic, talked about his startup process and proved that startups are not only limited to tech.

Dave del Rosario, community development associate of Ideaspace Foundation discussed the flow of the activities in the afternoon during which there were 41 idea submissions and 30 teams were formed.
The teams worked on the presentations about their ideas and were mentored by Mr. Atillano, Dr. Catan, Joshua de la Llana, the founder of Tactiles and Aisa Mijeno, founder of SALt.
According to Dave del Rosario, “This was the most successful Ideaspace bootcamp this year so far.”

PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan announced on September 26, 2014 that all prepaid subscribers of Smart, TalkNTxt and Sun will have a 30MB allocation of free Internet access on their mobile devices initially until November 30, 2014.
Through this special offer, all of the 66 million Smart Prepaid, Talk ‘N Text, and Sun Cellular Prepaid subscribers can use their data-enabled cellphones to browse through and post on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, visit their favorites websites, search on Google and Wikipedia, use navigation tools like Waze and Google Maps, book a cab or limo service via Easy Taxi and Uber, or use traffic info sites such as the MMDA’s and InterAksyon’s.
“We are launching this initiative to provide a much larger number of Filipinos the opportunity to try out and experience the Internet, enjoy its benefits and, as we at Smart like to say, live more,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of Smart and its parent company PLDT.
To avail of the free mobile internet offer, Smart, Talk N Text and Sun Cellular subscribers must have an available airtime balance of at least one peso, or is subscribed to any load bucket or promo. They must register each day, by simply sending “FREE” to the number “9999.” Registration is free. They will receive an SMS confirmation upon successful registration.
Once registered, subscribers can enjoy a free data volume package of up to 30MB per day. Data charges will however apply to peer-to-peer uploads and downloads, videos, VOIP and messaging.

Techtalks Tagbilaran, is hosting the first Ideaspace Technopreneur Bootcamp in Bohol on September 29, 2014. Students, fresh graduates and young professionals are invited to the free event and join the startup competition for a chance to get cash prizes and funding to make the idea into a reality.

An orientation session is set for Monday, September 22, 2014 at the University of Bohol Instructional Media Center at 10:00AM to 12:00nn. Everyone planning to attend the bootcamp is invited to join the orientation.
The #Technopreneur Bootcamp series is a vehicle for IdeaSpace to bring down to the grassroots level the advocacy for successful technopreneurship, collaborative participation and innovation.
The event is dubbed as ‘IdeaSpace: #Technopreneur Bootcamp@Bohol’ and will be held at JJ’s Seafood Village, K of C Drive, Tagbilaran. Registration starts at 8am.
Bohol based colleges and universities are invited to send students or fresh graduates in order to participate and listen to success stories from start-up mavericks and industry experts. Also, there’ll be a hand-in-hand workshop from startup experts to the groups and a pitching competition in the afternoon wherein teams will have to showcase their ideas and pitch to judges.
The free event includes lunch and giveaways, as well as the chance to compete for investment and mentoring.
It is the first time IdeaSpace has visited Bohol.
