PNoy encourages all gov’t agencies to support ‘Kabisig Expo 2014’

President Benigno S. Aquino III encouraged all government agencies and instrumentalities to extend their support and participate in the “KABISIG Philippine Expo and Trade Fair 2014.″

The directive was issued by virtue of Memorandum Circular No. 62 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on Janauary 29.

The KABISIG People’s Movement (KABISIG) Program was created by virtue of Proclamation No. 650 (s. 1990) in order to facilitate, coordinate and monitor the implementation of government programs and projects, as well as to provide linkages between and among the private sector groups and the government agencies.

In pursuit of the mandate, KABISIG is conducting the “KABISIG Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair 2014″ which has for its theme “Matuwid na Daan, Susi sa Tagumpay at Kaunlaran.”

The project aims to bring together in one venue all government agencies and instrumentalities, including Government-owned or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) and Local Government Units (LGUs), to feature their profiles, service facilities, programs, projects, products, and accomplishments. It is also an opportunity that will allow the government to promote public awareness and participation in national government.

“All heads of departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the national government, including GOCCs and LGUs, are hereby encouraged to extend support and participate in the said expo and trade fair, subject to the availability of funds and usual accounting and auditing rules,” the President said.

The Memorandum Circular shall take effect immediately. (PND)

MANILA, Feb. 6, 2014 (PIA)–Gitakda sa Department of Education (DepEd) sa Marso 27 ug 28 ang graduation sa mga pampublikong tunghaan sa nasud base sa gipagawas nga DepEd Order #10 series of 2013.

PNoy appoints a Boholano as new NBI director

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Jan. 17 (PIA)–President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Atty. Virgilio Mendez, a Boholano, as the new director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

He was the NBI Deputy Director for Regional Operations Services (NBI-DDROS) before his appointment.

Mendez took his oath before Justice Secretary Leila de Lima yesterday at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

A native of Bayongan, San Miguel, Bohol, Mendez was born on March 5, 1952, to a farmer and a public school teacher.

Mendez was one of the authors of the NBI Code of Conduct and Manual of Operations.

He received commendations for the arrests of suspects in high-profile cases, including the Kristelle “Kae” Davantes murder and the fatal shooting of former Lingayen Vice Mayor Ramon Arcinue and his wife last year. He was also responsible for the solution of and the filing of charges in the bombing of an LRT train in Manila on Rizal Day in 2000.

At first, he wanted to become a priest and finished his secondary education at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Tagbilaran City.

However, Mendez instead gave in to the calling of being a “Padre de Pamilya.” He is married to Vilma Garcia and they have three children.

Mendez went on to study law at Divine Word College in Tagbilaran City and earned a degree in 1976. He passed the bar with a grade of 81.55 percent in the same year.

The Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) in its meeting yesterday passed a congratulatory resolution for the new NBI director as proposed by Governor Edgar Chatto.

“It is important that the PPOC in Bohol commend a Boholano who is now the top official of the NBI,” Chatto said in a meeting held at JJ’s Seafood Village.

Filling of applications for April 6 career service written exams ongoing

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Jan. 17 (PIA)–The Civil Service Commission (CSC) Bohol Field Office is now accepting applications for the Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional Paper-and-Pencil Test to be conducted in Tagbilaran City on April 6, 2014, the first career service examination schedule for the year.

Deadline for submission of application is on February 20, 2014.

The CSE Professional level is a general ability test that aims to measure verbal, analytical and numerical abilities, while the Sub-Professional level aims to measure verbal, numerical and clerical skills. Both levels have general information questions on the Philippine Constitution, government work ethics (R.A. 6713), human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection. Passing grade is 80.00.

Those who are interested to take the said examination may visit the CSC office at Circumferencial Road, Tagbilaran City.

Applicants must bring 4 passport-size photos with handwritten (not computer-generated) full name tag in front with a signature over the name; P500 exam fee; and the original and photocopy of any valid ID containing the applicant’s clear picture, date of birth, and signature.

Only the following IDs will be honored: Driver’s license, SSS ID, GSIS ID, Philhealth ID, current company/office/school ID, Postal ID, BIR ID, Barangay ID, Voter’s ID, Valid passport or Police clearance.
