MANILA, Oct. 20 (PIA)–Ipaubos sa specialized training program sa Department of Health (DOH) sa pakigtambayayong sa World Health Organization (WHO) ang mga health workers isip pagpangandam sa pag-atiman sa mga pasyenteng adunay Ebola.
Matud pa sa tigpamaba sa DoH nga si Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy, ipahigayon ang pagbansay matag semana sugod sa Oktubre 28 isip parte sa gihingosgang kampanya batok sa Ebola.

POEA imposes total deployment ban for Yemen
Amid the deteriorating security situation in Yemen, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has reimposed the total deployment ban in the Arab country.
“The POEA Board resolves to impose a total ban on the processing and deployment of all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWsd) to Yemen, both returning and newly-hired, effective immediately,” said POEA Governor Board Resolution 27-2014 dated October 13.
The POEA said Alert Level 3 requires the imposition of a total deployment ban for OFWs.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) had raised last Oct. 2 the alert level in Yemen from “2” to “3,” citing the unstable security situation there.
Labor and Employment secretary Rosalinda Baldoz urged the remaining OFWs in Yemen to contact the Philippine embassy there to avail of the government’s repatriation program to avoid being caught in ongoing clashes between the Yemeni government and the Houthi rebel forces.
Baldoz said they are prepared to provide assistance to displaced workers, who will return to the country, through its reintegration services.
According to data from POEA, around 600 rehires were deployed in Yemen after the government temporarily relaxed the deployment restriction in the Middle East country for 2013. (POEA)

MANILA, Oct. 17 (PIA)–Ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) nipagawas sa P2.32 bilyon ngadto sa Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) alang sa pag-pondo sa implementasyon sa support services sa administrasyong Aquino sa mga benepisyaryo sa agraryo.
Ang maong P2.32 bilyon partial release lamang sa gigahin alang sa Program Beneficiaries Development (PBD), usa ka support service delivery component sa DAR. Ang maong pondo mapahimoslan sa mga grupo sa: agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), nga makakuha sa dakung bulto sa maong kantidad nga mokabat sa P2.31 bilyon; rural women, nga makakuha og P4.3 milyon; ug landowners, nga makakuha og P4.3 milyon.
Tuyo sa PBD nga suportahan ang mga benepisyaryo sa Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) sa paghimo sa ilang mga yuta nga mas produktibo, pagtabang kanila sa pagmugna og income-generating livelihood projects ug pagtudlo kanila og community governance.
“Filipino farmers who’ve been granted land under the agrarian reform program will gain much from this fund release to DAR. Through the PBD, the beneficiaries can make their farms more productive and bring their produce quickly to the market, among others,” matud pa ni DBM Kalihim Florencio “Butch” Abad.

Boholana is UPLB outstanding alumna
A native of Bohol has been awarded Most Outstanding Alumna by the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) during its recent Loyalty Day celebration.
Ms. Olivia Sylvia Oliver Inciong of Tagbilaran City was also declared by the UPLB College of Development Communication as outstanding alumna.
Ms. Inciong, called Bebot by her friends, is the eldest daughter of McKenna Oliver, a retired soils expert from the Department of Agriculture, and Leoncia Bungabong Oliver (deceased), a retired teacher at the Bohol School of Arts and Trades (now Bohol Island State University). She completed her elementary and high school at the College of the Holy Spirit and Bohol Provincial High School, respectively. She studied for one year at the University of Bohol then moved to the University of the Philippines Los Banos where he took up her bachelor and masteral degrees in Development Communication.
Ms. Inciong has over 30 years of experience in communication with a number of international and national organizations and agencies, among them, the International Rice Research Institute, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, United Nations Information Centre for the Philippines, United Nations Development Programme, Asian Development Bank, and Australian Agency for International Development.
In the civic and professional sectors, she is Charter Vice President and Past President of the Rotary Club of West Bay, Laguna; co-founder of the IRRI Toastmasters Club; former president of the San Pablo City Apex Ladies Club, and a member of the International Association of Facilitators.
Throughout her professional career, she promoted the use of development communication in various community development work.
Ms. Inciong is married to Rolando Inciong from Balayan, Batangas. They have three children: Rolando Giancarlo (BS Statistics); Sylvia Christine (BS Economics); and Regine Stephanie (BS Agriculture) – all graduates from the University of the Philippines Los Banos.
