The Department of Health – Central Visayas (DOH-7) will expand its P100 program to now include public hospitals under local government units. This is in action to boost its “Murang Gamot Program.”
The P100 program is a P100-worth of treatment drug packages to enable patients to purchase complete regimens as compared to buying medicines in individual packs which is more expensive.
The identified 18 drugs are chosen based on the mortality and morbidity index of the health department and include essential drugs such as antibiotics, anti-hypercholesterolemia, anti-arthritis, anti-asthma, anti-diabetes, Vitamin C and others.
Initially, the DOH-7 will select one public hospital per province where the P100 program is made available before expanding more to include retail hospitals.
The DOH-7 will boost its P100 program by setting aside P1M per province for the purchase of the identified drugs and making it available to more hospitals within the region. (PIA/FCR)
