Workplace health was emphasized in the recent advisory released by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) release guidelines for workplaces on the issue of influenza AH1N1.
The advisory requires employers of workplaces where workers are at risk of infection to prepare immediate protective measures in correcting or removing such danger. DOLE recommends a screening program on AH1N1 to be installed by the DOH in the said workplace. Employers are also urged to provide Personal Protective Equipment.
DOLE stressed the need for the employers’ flexibility and compassion in granting additional leave with pay. The agency also announced that workers affected by the virus may avail of P150, 000 medical insurance package in addition to the existing Philippine Health Insurance Corporation benefits. (PIA)
