GSIS reminds pensioners to renew their active status

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) reminds pensioners nationwide, whose birth month falls this August to renew their active status this month. This is to ensure the continuous receipt of their monthly pension.

The uninterrupted receipt of the monthly pension of GSIS pensioners rests on their dutiful compliance with the annual renewal of active status (ARAS) requirement of the pension fund.

Pensioners now receive their monthly pension on the 8th day of every month, or the next banking day in case the 8th day falls on a weekend or holiday, instead of the previous schedule of the first banking day of every month.

The GSIS said the change in schedule was in response to numerous requests from pensioners to immediately resume the regular crediting of their pension in case their pension accounts are suspended due to their failure to renew their active status. With the new schedule, those who have renewed their active status on the last week or even on the last day of the previous month will be able to receive their pension immediately the following month.
