Rev Fr. Romeo Bancale died on Easter Sunday past 4:00 in the afternoon. Fr. Bancale, together with other SVD priests, was attending the Easter celebration held at the SVD Beach Resort in Libaong, Panglao.
Fr. Bancale was swimming when he called for help to a fellow SVD priest, Fr. Boboy Sarabia.
Though given first aid remedies once on shore, he was Dead-On-Arrival at the Ramiro Hospital. Fr. Bancale died due to cardiac arrest secondary to swimming, as said by resident doctors.
Fr. Bancale recently served as the vice president for academic affairs and director, Center for Research & Local Governance of Holy Name University, Tagbilaran.
His wake is currently held at the HNU gymnasium, Jansen Heights Campus but only until Friday tomorrow. On Saturday, his remains will be flown to Manila. And interment is set at the Christ the King Seminary, Quezon City on April 20, 2009 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
