Move to automate 2010 polls resumes with Joint Venture

The automation of elections this coming 2010 is back on track as Total Information Management (TIM) and Barbados-based Smartmatic, Inc. have settled their differences.

Arroyo hailed the Commission on Election (Comelec) for coming up with a joint venture agreement between TIM and Barbados-based Smartmatic in the P7.2-billion poll automation project.

It may be recalled that TIM backed out of the initial partnership agreements that led to the speculation that the poll automation project would be dead.

Following a win-win solution to the stalled poll automation project which Comelec has adeptly settled with both Smartmatic and TIM in joint venture agreement, the ambitious plan moves this Friday with the signing of the contracts. (PIA)
